  1. Wong and Narvaez have options, so one could go to AAA as depth, but there is such a need for MLB catchers, trading Wong or Narvaez makes some sense, too. If I had to pick, I'd trade the guy with less control- Wong.
  2. Agreed. Maybe STL would part with this guy who has a 3.26 FIP. I think his name is Mustin Day. LOL.
  3. On IP limits... Early is 24 years old and can see an increase in IP, but by how much? I'm not sure viewing his recent IL stint as a hint that he can pitch more when he returns. He had 103 IP in 2024 and 101 in 2025- both in the minors. I think expecting 150 this year. He was leading the team in IP before the IL stint and is at 92, now. Assuming he comes back, I'm thinking 40 more IP (8 GS?) Suarez should not be on an IP limit, and he just came off the IL, but he's never exceeded 158 IP and is at 91, now. He should be okay for 6 IP x 10-11 starts. Tolle is at 90 IP in MLB but also 15 in AAA, so he's at 105. That's more than anyone else on the current staff. He's 23 and had 92 IP, last season. 150 IP is pushing it. 130 might be, too. If we make the playoffs, who can pitch? Bennett has missed serious time with a major injury, He's 25. He once pitched 117 innings at Oklahoma. He hasn't pitched 76 IP since- in all pro ball. He's at 93 now and even pitched Fall ball last year. What's his limit? 120? 130? Gray should not have limits, and since he is a FA after 2026, I doubt the Sox are concerned about overuse all that much. He's on pace for about 180, which he's done several times, including last year. Sandoval and Rivera are huge question marks. The returns by Crochet, Houck, Crawford & Oviedo are highly skeptical.
  4. Good to see Suarez back. I hope he doesn't need an adjustment period. We need his IP.
  5. It was about seeing how far we were away from contention. The whole "but 7 teams are between us and the playoffs" was a mirage. Being 14 games under .500 and 16 GB the WC berth is a lot different than 14 games under .500 and 5-6 GB. To not think there is a difference is just plain silly.
  6. After like 5-6 games, he was toast. It just takes a while to realize it and move on.
  7. Here is a list of current & ex-Sox players with their current numbers (listed in order of most PAs and IP) .695 Bregman (4th in MLB in PAs) .923 Schwarber (19th) .784 Devers (29th) .800 Abreu (33rd) .723 Meidroth (57th) .594 Duran (70th is just plain sick) .731 Dubon (75th) .758 Rafaela (81st) .638 Bogey (86th) .941 Willson (87th) .699 Durbin (122nd & higher OPS than Breggie) .736 Benintendi (157) .730 Betts (179) .651 DHam (226) .807 N Lowe (234) .594 Mayer (239) .721 Grissom (241) .739 Yoshida (253) .611 Vazquez (264) .657 O'Neill (278) .604 T Gray (279) .559 Narvaez (282) .731 Monasterio (284) .547 Story (287) .744 Wong (326) .586 Jansen (328) .725 B Monty (347) .705 IKF (348) .605 Moncada (350) .675 Anthony (351) .422 Refsnyder (367) .613 Gasper (368) .464 Heineman (375) .706 Siegler (391) _________________ xERA (IP Rank) 4.17 Wacha (3rd) 5.12 ERod (12th) 4.02 Nate (15th) 3.31 Sale (46th) 4.77 Springs (52) 3.63 Gray (55) 3.89 DMay (66- was Brez really that dumb or just a year off?) 4.32 Early (83) 3.32 Suarez (84) 2.93 Tolle (89) 4.61 Perez (106) 3.30 Drohan (117) 6.06 Bello (132) 3.85 Newcomb (156) 2.99 Bennett (162) 5.85 Matz (164) 5.95 Watson (176)
  8. He's not on the 26, right now, and may not comeback this year. If he does, his innings will be limited, anyway.
  9. Maybe these are the realistic targets or types of targets: Steer, Schmidt and Jeffers Not too costly, but helpful.
  10. Yes, but I'm talking out of the gate, and until recently Yoshida was not the "hot hand" and Romy was on the IL.
  11. Last game of the season: the Sox are 87-74 and tied for the WC slot. MVP wont care about the WC3 slot? Highly doubtful, IMO, but to each his own, I guess. To me, not caring would be "silly." We are currently the WC3 team and everybody cares about what we are doing on the field, with roster choices and what we will do at the deadline. It's not silly.
  12. For argument's sake, let's say Crochet, Anthony, Crawford, Houck & Oviedo never return from the IL, but Suarez, Early, Story and IKF do, could this be the 26? SP: Suarez, Gray, Bennett, Tolle & Early RP: Chapman, Whitlock, Slaten, Moran, Weissert, Guerrero, Sandoval and one from Watson (no options) Bello or Rivera. C: Wong & Narvaez 1B: Contreras 2B: IKF and one from Cheng/Monasterio/Siegler (maybe 2 w no Jones?) SS: Story 3B: Durbin LF: Duran & Jones CF: Rafaela RF: Abreu DH: Yoshida & Romy
  13. They had serious issues on offense, and still do. I'm not arguing that. I'm also not saying we are a great team. My point was that the goal was to get into the playoffs, even if it was the WC3 slot with a near or even below .500 team, and you called it a silly goal than and now. We are the WC3 team now, and it's no longer silly to think we have a shot with a key buy or two. It's not about calling you, others and nearly all of us wrong. The goal to get to the #3 WC was and still is not silly. The goal was to get here and see if we can get beyond here. That could happen via trade(s) and or returning players from the IL.
  14. LOL. SS: Cheng-Monsterio 2B: Story-Siegler/Monasterio
  15. I'd say that's 100% true if Cora was still here. Maybe it's 99.9% true, now. I just hope not. I know hoping for a 0.1% chance might seem lame, I'm still going to state my opinion- knowing it won't ever come true.
  16. I think he plays 1-2 years more, but we don't control his contract for 2027. You think we extend or re-sign him?
  17. Are we done with all draftee signings? #15 Chase Frey and #18 Ethan Offing have not signed.
  18. I'm not sure about anyone else, here, but I'd prefer the Cheng-Monasterio SS platoon than handing the job to Story. I could see Story winning the 2B job from Siegler, and maybe even IKF forcing a demotion for R/LHB Siegler or RHB Monasterio, but please- no Story at SS ever again.
  19. Did Shaughnessy take on the Fred monniker? From fraud to flops...
  20. The enthusiasm is rubbing off. I never thought of Wilyer being as animated as now.
