    I'm not sure weight lifting is something necessary for all baseball players. Certainly, it can and does help some players, but being muscle bound may not always improve all the skills needed to be a great baseball player. I also believe that a person who has never worked out with weights in his whole life, needs to be careful not to overdo it over a short period of time and end up pulling a hammy. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but maybe it's not for everybody.

    Exactly. Of course, being in the best shape of his life doesn't mean he won't get hurt or slump.

    Moving him down in the order can reduce PAs vs LHPs by some. A few more days off takes away a few more, but how well he does when he does play is still more important.

    I'd bat Duran 6th vs most LH'd SP'ers. I would not platoon him, unless he really sucks, and even then, we don't really have anyone. When he "rests" it should be vs a lefty, but it would likely be LHB Masa that plays.

    51 years ago, a couple of Sox rookies took the team to within one game of its first ring in many years. Both Lynn & Rice had over 600 PAs and finished 1-2 in ROY voting, as well as 1-3 in MVP voting. Fred Lynn: .331 21 105 (.401/.566/.967) Led the league in SLG & OPS. Jim Rice: .309 22 102 (.350/.491/.841) I'm not trying to put Anthony and Mayer in the same class as those two, but it does seem like many teams that go far are given major boosts by a rookie or two. (I know, Anthony is not technically a "rookie," but he's close enough for me.)

    They are not. Drew was talkig about how his final numbers will be affected by how well or poorly he does vs LHPs.

    He doesn't seem to be getting much better vs LHPs, unlike Abreu, who saw a nice uptick, recently. Duran OPS v LHPs: .438 (28 PAs) '21 .449 (42) '22 .422 (49) '23 .665 (230) '24 (.319 OBP was career best) .600 (209) '25 (.260 OBP)

    Another really big hit by Rafaela. A significant uptick from him could be just the boost we need.

    Durbin played a full 2025 season. Contreras is not way past prime, and age is no reason to bat him 9th. BTW, welcome back, Max!!!

    It's always nice to start the season with a win, and the shutout makes it even sweeter. The two kids went 5 for 6. It was 51 years ago another 2 kids brought some magic to the city.
