  1. It is rather amazing how few top everyday prospects are near MLB ready. We have some decent ML depth in AAA, but all are graduates or AAAA types. Romero & Ward with maybe Castro in between those two is all there is. AA has.... 2. Arias 22. Taylor 33. Bleis 42. Alcantara
  2. The old folks in the 70's probably wished the game was like it was in the 30's.
  3. Hasn't pretty much every generation in the history of the world spoke of how things were better way back when?
  4. 2018 was really fun, too. Yes, I liked the game more back then, but I was also an impressionable teen. I don't sit around wishing the game changes back to the way it was. I love the game as it is and baseball will always be my favorite sport. Now, ask me how much I like the way the NBA has changed. LMAO!
  5. Just before dropping back out.
  6. 2024 to 2025: IP by SP'er Sox are 11th. (2019-2023: 26th)
  7. No. I preferred the games of the early to mid 70's, but like everything else in life, things change. It is what it is. I accept it and still think baseball is the best game ever invented. Change is ineviditable.
  8. So, every manager, GM, scout and probably everyone in every baseball role doesn't know what the hell they are talking about.
  9. It's hard to imagine there would be less pitching injuries, if these starters went longer into games. They do throw harder and also try to put higher spin rates on their pitches. That takes an enormous toll on an arm. I get the argument for going longer and asking why do modern players need to be babied? I think the fact that all 30 teams follow the same philosophy on this gives you the answer, even if it's not the answer you want to hear. There are more RP'ers that are capable or even better than starters, so that is a factor, too.
  10. He was 21st, last fall, and we've traded away 7 prospects that were higher than he was. We added #10 Bennet and #19 Samaniego. I'm thinking maybe a little above #21 Bastardo.
  11. Nice post. Although Ceddane is my current favorite Sox player, I did mention that trading him for a big bat infielder might make more sense. Of course, more players/prospects would have needed to be added to get someone like Neto or KMarte. (Perhaps we could have included some players used in the Durbin, Oviedo or Gray trades, too.) I'm not a big Masa fan, but trading Ceddane and using Masa/Romy at DH would not have been a step down on offense. Adding KMarte or Neto would have been a big boost to the O and not hurt the D at their position. (We'd be worse at CF D, but the plus on O would be worth it.)
  12. Day off and then a home staand, where we simply have to turn tings around- in a big way.\ 3 vs SDP 3 v MIL Neither series will be a cakewalk. Another day off and then a road series: 3 @ STL 3 @ MIN Day off Home for 3 v DET 3 v NYY (No day off) 3 @ BAL 3 @ TOR Last day of April off. 3 out of the next 15 days off, so our pitchers should be well rested.
  13. Since the Sox "always make the bad choices," why would this matter? If the answer is yes, then Contreras was the better choice. 🤣
  14. This has been an ongoing issue with Cora: not playing players where they are best defensively. Devers at 3B for way too long. Story at 2B with the lesser Bogey at SS. Now, Story at SS as he has clearly regressed. Rafaela at SS (and 2B,) Arroyo in the OF, Franchy at 1B and on and on... It may be too early to say he's "lost this team," but this has been a bad start to the season. The bone-head plays continue.
  15. So, 27-135 is your projection, now?
  16. Playing catcher also ate into his PA totals. He has 27 HRs per 650 as a catcher, but he only had over 495 PAs in one season.
  17. This is not supported by the data. Best 3 years of career? His last 3. Best 2 years of his career? His last 2. His 123 OPS+ in 2025 is very good. He only had 3 other seasons higher than that. (3 better/ 7 worse)
  18. Lets see how Alonso compares to Contreras. To me, the big mistake was keeping 4 OF'ers and going cheap on Durbin/IKF rather than KMarte/Neto/Paredes
  19. Pretty accurate. Suarez was not really lower cost, and Gray is making $31M ($10M paid by STL.) Contreras was cheaper than Alonso, but he's still making $18M. Durbin, Kiner-Falefa, Oviedo and others were much lower cost options than others, for sure.
  20. It's just one slot, but they had Eyanson jump over Phillips. The NOV 2025 rankings had Phillips 13 and Eyanson 14. Since then, we traded away #4 Perales, #6 Jh Garcia, #8 Clarke, #10 Fajardo & #12 Sandlin, so the rise by these two was almost all due to attrition. I did not see the jump by Wehunt coming. I would not have jumped Castro up. Azocar went from #25 to #15. Ramos & Rivas jumped 10 slots, but abut 10 prospects ahead of them were traded away. Biggest drops: 23 Bleis> 33 (about 10 guys above him were traded) 24 Cespedes>34 30 Jo Garcia>51
  21. I thought he might be the #5, if healthy. He had a nice run a few years ago, but many pitchers can say that, including guys like McCullers.
  22. They did bounce Bleis & Cespedes from the top 30, but Castro went up. I'm surprised by the drop of Jo Garcia from 30 to 51, but these guys know more than I do.
  23. https://soxprospects.com/history.htm soxprospects.com came out with their Spring 2026 rankings list: 1. Tolle (#1 fall '25) 2. Arias (#2) 3. Early (#3) 4. Witherspoon (#5- Perales was #4) 5.
