  1. Sox re-sign Brendan Rodgers to 2 year deal.
  2. Cora on how to manage the OF/DH bottleneck: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/03/alex-cora-discusses-red-sox-outfield-plans.html It's not easy.
  3. I think they view Suarez as the #2, but he was not quite ready for game 2. Gray is a fine pitcher and should end up having better numbers than most team's #2s.
  4. We fought back and made some big plays. The mistakes hurt, too much.
  5. KC K'd 4 times and went 1 for 5. Sogard got on base 3 out of 5 times. Uberstine went 4 IP (56 pitches) 2 hits, 1 BB, 3 Ks and just 1 ER. Guerrero got the save.
  6. Tolle & Early have not gradutaed. Witherspoon is top 80-100 in a few rankings. Gonzales, Valera and or Phillips may crack the top 100, this summer/fall.
  7. Thanks for the chart. I will add that the Sox players who are over 31 include some important ones, but not as much as some teams seem to depend on... 31 IKF (utility infielder) 32 Yoshida (back up DH) 33 Story (important) 34 Contreras (important) 36 Gray (important)& Coulombe (maybe 7th or 8th best RP'er) 38 Chapman (very important, but we might have the best #2 RP'er in MLB.) Only 4 key players are over 31.
  8. Sox by age: Everyday Players 22 Anthony 23 Mayer, Campbell 25 Rafaela 26 Durbin, Casas 27 Abreu, Narvaez 29 Duran, Romy, Wong 31 IKF 32 Yoshida 33 Story 34 Contreras ________________ Pitchers 23 Early, Tolle 26 Bello 27 Crochet 28 Slaten, Oviedo, Moran, Watson 29 Crawford, Sandoval, Houck 30 Suarez, Whitlock. Kelly 31 Weissert 36 Gray & Coulombe 38 Chapman ___________________ The 30 and under team: SP: Crochet, Suarez, Bello, Early, Crawford RP: Whitlock, Slaten, Oviedo, Kelly, Sandoval, Tolle, Watson, Moran C: Narvaez, Wong 1B: Casas 2B: Romy, Campbell 3B: Durbin, Monasterio SS: Mayer, Sogard LF: Anthony CF: Rafaela RF: Abreu DH: Duran
  9. I hate to set expectations too high for young players, but for Roman, it seems justifiable. Mayer is much harder to project. KC is in reset mode. Narvaez has already shown he's good on defense, and I think he has a good eye at the plate, and so should be able to stay over .700. Early looks like a seasoned vet, already. Tolle has a lot of upside potential. This is a pretty nice list. In 2024, we graduated Abreu, Rafaela & Slaten. '22-'23: Duran, Bello, Crawford, Casas, Kelly & Wong
  10. We should see the updated soxprospects.com rankings in a week or so, but here is my current rankings: 1. Early 2. Tolle 3. Arias 4. Witherspoon 5. Gonzales 6. Valera 7. Bennett 8. Phillips 9. Soto 10. Godbout 11. Eyanson 12. Holobetz 13. Delzine 14. Azocar 15. Jo Garcia 16. Ramos 17. Rivas 18. Cason 19. Romero 20. Watson 21. Uberstine 22. Mullins 23. Ziehl 24. Guzman 25. Silviero
  11. Facing a RHP, today, Mayer will start. Here's my stab at Cora's line-up choice: 1. Anthony LF 2. Story SS 3. Duran DH 4. Contreras 1B 5. Abreu RF 6. Durbin 3B 7. Mayer 2B 8. Narvaez C 9. Rafaela CF
  12. This is important, but not many pitchers have great success walking the leadoff hitter.
  13. Roman may never have a season equal to Lynn's '75 or '79 seasons, but the injuries really affected Fred's career numbers. Lynn only had over 550 PAs six times, and 5 of them were with Boston (1975-1979.) This was a phenomenal 5 year stretch: .308 22 90 was the average (.381 OBP/.523 SLG/.904 OPS) Projected to 162 gms: .308 25 104 Can Anthony hit .904 over his best 5 year stretch? I'd say it's possible. Can he have a longer and more productive full career? I'd say yes. Lynn's career line: .283/.360/.484/.845 (4 GGs) Per 162 games (650 PAs) .283 25 91
  14. I get the catcher argument and respect it, but I'm not so sure Raleigh did a great job as a catcher. He's a good one, but the M's vaunted rotation kinda underperformed, last year.
  15. Let's get back to Roman Anthony. What is this kid's ceiling? IMO, we might not see much power, this year, but he may lead the league in BA, hits and possibly 2Bs.
  16. Judge had an OBP and SLG% nearly 100 points better than Raleigh. It's not even close. Raleigh was 4th in OPS and wRC+, which is amazing for a catcher, but he was just too far behind Judge in just about every category. Judge had over double the IBBs. He had a BA 84 points higher. He even beat Raleigh in XBHs by 1, despite having 7 less HRs.
  17. Let's see how Sonny Gray does, today. I'm hoping he has one good year left. He's aged pretty well, so far. His whole career, he never went 3 years in a row with 117+ IP, until age 31. Since then, it's been 5 straight seasons. He only had over 166 IP 3 times in his first 10 MLB seasons: he's done it all 3 of his last 3 seasons. He's pitched 1950 IP in his career: First 650: 3.42 ERA/3.61 FIP ('13-'16 at ages 23-26) Middle 650: 3.78 ERA/3.77 FIP ('17-'21 at ages 27-31) Last 650: 3.53 ERA/ 3.16 FIP ('22-'25 at ages 32-35) His best fWAR seasons: 5.4 in '23 (age 33) 4.5 in '19 (29) 3.9 in '15 (25) 3.8 in '24 (34) 3.6 in '25 (35) 3.5 in '14 (24) 3 of his 5 best have been in his last 3 seasons (ages 33-35!)
  18. They coulda traded an infielder to BOS.
  19. I hope Castro does well, but I've lost all faith in his chances.
  20. Cora is going to want to try to keep IKF fresh and playing enough to not get too rusty.
  21. Opening Day Line-up: 3B Sogard CF Campbell 1B Gasper RF Eaton 2B Romero DH Castro SS Cheng C Thaiss LF Ward
  22. A recap of top prospects traded away, this winter: 4. Perales (traded for Bennett) 6. Jh Garcia (traded with Travieso for Oviedo, Samaniego & Guzman) 8. B Clarke (traded with Fitts for Sonny Gray + cash) 10. Fajardo (Traded w Dobbins & Aita for Contreras) 12. Sandlin (Part of package that included Hicks and cash for Gage Ziehl) 18. Drohan (Part of package for Durbin & others) 20. Travieso (traded with Jh Garcia for Oviedo & others) 21. Paez (lost to Rule 5) ______________ Added: 6. Bennett (for Perales) 26. Samaniego (part of Oviedo trade for Jh Garcia & Travieso) 28. Ziehl (Part of Sandlin, Hicks & DHam trade) 29. Guzman (part of Oviedo trade for Jh Garcia & Travieso) 30. Watson (Rule 5 pick for J Riemer) 31. Heyman (for Hoppe) 49. Jackson (for Grissom)
  23. Looking at the number of catchers added to the Sox farm system is rather shocking, although none are top prospects. It was an area of great need, so it made sense that we added a few, but here is the list of catcher additions: MLB/AAA: Gasper, Seigler, Thaiss, Delay AA: Baez A-: Guzman A-: Heyman That's 8 catchers!
