  1. Duran played better than expected in CF, two seasons ago. He looked worse on D, this year. I'd be okay with him in CF, but would try to avoid it. I'd rather have Duran in LF and Anthony in CF. I really like Duran, but to me he is the one who should be traded. Duran for Lodolo. Duran plus others in a 3-way for Ryan. Duran plus others for K Marte.
  2. Zero chance is kinda extreme, but a lot depends on how many OF'er we trade and we WILL TRADE ONE. We will NOT have Campbell on the 26 as a short-side platoon, so that does diminish his chances to make the 26, but I do think Brez sees him as a strong candidate to win te LF job, as long as it doesn't mean Duran or Anthony is benched. Another possibility is Campbell at DH, but with Masa, I doubt it. (Would we play Masa in LF and Campbell at DH?) If we could get sweet returns for Duran and Abreu, probably within two larger package deals for two guys like Ryan and K Marte, I'd be extremely interested. Neither is overpaid. Both are controlled for more than 1 year. The budget savings would allow us to go large and long on one guy: Alonso or Schwarber.
  3. Before any additions/subtractions are made, this is what our roster looks like. I added 3 blank lines for acquisitions I feel are near certain. (Minors on 40) C: Narvaez & Wong 1B: ______ & Casas (IL?)(T Gray) 2B: Mayer & Romy (DHam, Grissom) SS: Story (Sogard) 3B: ______ (Eaton) Mayer LF: Duran, Anthony & Yoshida (Campbell) CF: Rafaela & Duran (Garcia) RF: Abreu & Anthony DH: Yoshida SP: Crochet, _____, Bello, Sandoval, Crawford (Harrison, Dobbins, Early, Tolle, Perales, Uberstine, Drohan) Houck to 60 Day IL, soon after opening day. RP: Chapman, Whitlock, Slaten, Weissert, Criswell, Hicks, Moran, Fitts (Kelly, Sandlin) To be DFA'd or traded to make room for additions: 1. Grissom (Sogard or Eaton) 2. T Gray 3. Drohan, Uberstine, Moran or Kelly 4. Hicks (just a dream some of us had)
  4. No. My "we" was meant us on talksox. Brez & Co might be fully prepared to hand KC the LF job on opening day, while thinking Garcia and maybe a re-signed Ref is enough insurance. Also, I think Brez is more comfortable playing Masa in LF than many of "us" are- at least as a back-up/partial platoon. If we sign Schwarber to DH, I could see them thinking Masa and campbell have LF covered and Garcia is enough depth.
  5. I expected 1 Rule 5 guys not 4 (counting Hoppe added to SEA's 40.) The Guerrero trade is no shocker, and I guess the Wink DFA should not have been. Lowe was expected. Nothing was really earth-shattering, but the amount of moves was a bit surprising. I'm not really sure or ML ready 40 man roster is any better, but the farm depth improved. Some budget issues were settled. As MVP pointed out, we rid ourselves of a lot of higher BB% pitchers.
  6. Good point. I still think JH likes a big short deal, anyway.
  7. Hoppe's 12% BB rate fits your point, too.
  8. I thought the same. If we felt secure with Campbell & Garcia in LF, we could trade 2 OF'ers! (I don't.)
  9. What I want is not what I get. If someone offers DET more than what I suggested, let them have him. If a reasonable extension was part of the deal, I'd give the proposed offer in a flash. Skubal has 1 year: Crochet has 6. Had we not extended Crochet, what I'd want for him would depend on the position the team is in: total rebuild (top prospects- some maybe far away) to still in a window (ML players or ML ready top prospects.) I'm not sure about DET, but that team w/o Skubal should be in total rebuild mode.
  10. I share your concern, but when you graduate the amount of positional prospects we have in the last 2-3 years, a lull can and should be expected. When you see the years of low cost control we have on so many everyday players, the worry lessens, some. 2025: Anthony, Mayer, Campbell & Narvaez 20024: Rafaela, Abreu, DHam & Sogard 2023: Casas & Wong That's 6-8 solid players added to 3 years of Duran and 2-3 of Story. That makes 8-10 players not counting Romy, Yoshida & Garcia. We do have some specific positions lacking in depth and or dependable talent, like corner infield and C, but with so much excess in the OF, we could make a trade or two and look all set at every position for 3+ years. That does not fully take away from the issue you mentioned. Arias, Gonzales, Godbout and maybe Romero or Taylor is woefully lacking in numbers and high skill levels. Signing a couple corner infielders to 3+ year deals would lessen the immediate concerns, but we rarely get what we hope for.
  11. True, but it still seems silly. Such original names in the first place... NOT!
  12. I would not give up anywhere near the suggested offer, here. I'd hesitate to just give Duran or one from Tolle/Early, let alone two. Arias would not be needed. I might offer Garcia, Clarke and Sandlin. Maybe Campbell and Phillips.
  13. I agree. There is only one guy we added, yesterday that may need to be DFA's, and that's T Gray. All the others are low level prospects.
  14. I think this was more about making room for the 3 guys we wanted to protect. We basically swapped out prospects in danger of being selected for prospects that are far from Rule 5 consideration. We did gain prospects though, so you are right. We got rid of 3 borderline players plus Hoppe and added 4 prospects. Time will tell.
  15. If we re-sign Matz, the Bernie trade makes more sense, to me.
  16. Nope. DHam, Hicks for Castillo plus cash? LOL
  17. More changes today than I expected. No more Lowe, Bernardino, Murphy, Winckowski & Hoppe. Added Sandlin, Drohan & Uberstine to the 40. Added some prospects, all low level. Now, we wait to see who might be selected Rule 5, and who gets added/subtracted via trade, DFA'd or added by signings.
  18. Missed Hoppe for Luke Heyman (2025 SEA 14th round draftee, who plays 1B/C) Hoppe was added to the 40.
  19. I guess our 40 was pretty deep, as we traded 3 guys, instead of DFA'g more than just Wink. (Maybe Wink gets traded, if he's not claimed. I'm sure we tried to trade him.) We also thought our farm was rather short on ML ready prospects as we promoted a bunch, this year, but we basically had 4, if you count Hoppe who was traded and added to the 40 w SEA. I like Bernardino. I still had some hope with Murphy. Maybe I was higher on Wink than I should have been. Hoppe came out of nowhere. I had Mullins ahead of him. Maybe this is a sign Moran has life, but once we start signing FA's, someone else has to go. What's the first to go list, now? (Assuming no better players get traded.) 1. T Gray 2. Grissom 3. Eaton or Sogard (if Grissom stays) 4. Moran or Criswell (out of options) 5. Hicks (in my dreams)
  20. SEA traded for Hoppe and added him to the 40, so there was someone that flew under our radar. We selected Sandlin, Drohan & Uberstine to take the slots of Murphy (traded), Bernardino (traded) & Winckowski (DFA'd)
  21. With so few hitting prospects, maybe we should hold onto him. Can he play 1B?
  22. I was wrong on the last two, but I guess they got some promising prospects with Bernardino, Murphy and Hoppe. Out with the young and in with the new, I guess.
  23. I thought Torres might fit a double Sox need: 2B and a one year deal that might allow a reset on the soon to be year 3 tax, assuming we go over this year (year 2.) Go large and long on one guy and large and short on another.
