  1. He's not even as good as Bartolo Colon.
  2. The problem is the league is full of viable starters and the Sox have their share. They don't need another one, they need an ace and they don't have one.
  3. That was probably the agreement: "We have no choice but to pay you, but we don't have to play you. Quit now and we'll give you a no-show title and the rest of your contract. Forget about the HR bonus."
  4. Yeah, but DD didn't sign Pablo, Chernington did. That's the difference. Makes sense, doesn't it?
  5. It's not about which starter has to sit. Clay will start again if there's an injury or some one needs to skip a start, due to the sucky schedule (I'm thinking Pomeranz). Otherwise, he's the long guy. With the exception of E-Rod, this team has been healthy, starting pitcher-wise. If their luck runs out, you'll see Clay start. I don't see why they'd bother with a 6 man rotation.
  6. There's a whole range of performance possiblities between "I suck, so this is a great deal for me" and I'm awesome and the Sox are fools for letting me go". It's entirely possible that Price feels he'd be better off out of Boston in three years.
  7. Nah, save his first HR for Fenway.
  8. I think Price would have to pitch quite bit beyond the worth of his contract to entice another team to take over his contract with a waiver deal or trade. I guess that's possible, but not likely. Price could pitch somewhat better than he is now for him (and his agent) to believe a better deal is waiting after opting out. Who knows, he could continue so embarrass himself so badly that he can't wait to opt out of Boston.
  9. The opt-out was about the only thing I liked about that contract. I'm hoping he pitches well enough the next two seasons to do just that, hit the road.
  10. Consistent opinions, as always.
  11. How about a platoon? Get Clay going in the pen whenever Price starts a fifth inning.
  12. Kimmi! Price will be fine... sometime this year, or maybe next year. Not a problem at all! Teams get to the playoffs all the time with an ace that pitches like a #4.
  13. If he gets fired, it'll be a case of not being able to fire the players. If it happens, it'll be at the end of the next road trip. It's a tough schedule, with a makeup game vs the Tribe, two games in Balt, a series vs the Tigers and a series in that dump called the Trop.
  14. Well, Beni got it done against McCarthy. The rest of the team, not so much.
  15. That's because Buck is a giving sort of guy and gave up-and-coming teams to other managers so they could win. He's all heart!
  16. Replace Farrell with "Price" and I bet that sounds just as f***ing stupid to you as your statement does to me.
  17. And, as we've learned, that's when pitchers pull pec muscles.
  18. Yup, it's probably not a coincidence.
  19. Sucks that his fist few games are on the west coast. Then again, that may be a good thing for him.
  20. AHAHAHAHA! Is this your first visit to New England?
  21. Yup, next year is going to be strange without him. And I'm not looking forward to it.
  22. I didn't see last night's game, so I don't know if this applies to that game, but you don't see a lot of hitters looking uncomfortable while facing Price. Intimidation is usually a big part of an "ace's" game.
  23. There's a better chance of me converting to veganism.
  24. Yup, that is way too much time wasted.
