  1. Yup, there's a lot of opportunities to give players a break and tweak pitching match ups.
  2. The more I think about it, them more I like using the DH spot like some other teams do, as a chance to give a position player a break from the field next year. It's not like this team is in dire need of another bat. I like Encanacion, but I'm sure I wont like what he's going to ask for.
  3. To quote Eck from last night's game: "They're about to fall out of the tree they're in". This last run got them close, but I don't think they're going to get in.
  4. If the alternative is Owens, I keep Buchholz in the rotation. It looks like the bullpen is settling down, with Koji healthy and the Sept callups helping out. The rotation is miles better than it was two months ago, thanks to Price and the aquisition of Pomeranz. The team is finally firing on all cylinders and at the perfect time. Don't "experiment" with the rotation.
  5. True, but if we're talking about playoff starts, I trust a guy that has been there before, rather than a kid with a years worth of ML starts. Pomeranz will be an option, if the workload doesn't catch up to him by the end of the season. Go with Buchholz until he gets injured or flops.
  6. Yup, I hear you. I agree, it would've been a mistake to DFa him. They made the right move in putting him in the pen. It either woke him up a little, or it gave him a chance to fix whatever problem he was having. I've always thought Buchh was a head case, so I'm guessing that it's the former.
  7. That's what Buchholz does to fans. Name another pitcher that can be so bad, and then so good, in a single season.
  8. Assuming Wright continues to have shoulder issues, Buchholz is going to get about 4 more starts. If he goes on a run, like he has in the past, he'll be too valuable to go to the pen.
  9. Yup, and about all I'd trust E-rod with, as far as the playoffs are concerned, is watching them from the dugout.
  10. You really shouldn't take this stuff so seriously. It's not good for you...
  11. Then the Sox should definitely do the opposite.
  12. The rotation is finally looking good, thanks to Buchholz and Pomeranz. The bullpen still scares me, as far as the playoffs go. The Sox will need Koji to be that 8th inning guy.
  13. Yup, he's been a little uneven, offensivesly, but he's coming on at the right time! And while he's not going to win any fielding Bible awards at first,he done much better than most probably expected.
  14. Here? At TS?? The bastion of objective thinkinng??? Come on!!
  15. Anyway, Moncada can play in the playoffs.
  16. Any where from the box seats to the grandstands are a good place to sit. Fenway is small, as stadiums go, so there are very few "bad seats. The grandstands have support columns that block part of the field, but unless you're struck right behind one, it's not much of a problem. Loge and field box seats don't have that issue. About the only place you don't want to sit are the right field seats. They face right field, not home plate, so the sight lines aren't great. I usually get there at about 3:30-4:00. that's plenty of time to wander around, get a bite to eat and a few beers.
  17. Yup, they're not getting anything from Shaw or Hill right now.
  18. Per Rob Bradford WEEI: "Under MLB’s new rules, a player just needs to be in the organization in order to have an opportunity to play in the postseason. They don’t have to be called up to the big leagues prior to Sept. 1."
  19. Yup, all of those would've been worth trying.
  20. The biggest issue I have with Farrell is he seems to have a tough time assigning roles in the pen. The fact that you never what you're going to get on any given night from just about everyone makes the job that much tougher. But, Farrell should be more consistent with role assignment in the pen. I still have no idea who our "8th inning guy" is.
  21. Farrell hasn't impressed me at all with his handling of the pen, considering he was a pitching coach. But, the injuries to Smith and Koji really hamstrung this team. It's gotten to the point where Farrell is going to get the blame, no matter which RP coughes up the game.
  22. Triggs is a righty. I bet he's in there tonight.
