Price, Porcello and Wright should be enough to get us the division, provided Wright grows some nails so he can grip a danmed ball when it gets a little damp and Price continues the slow process of pulling his head out of his ass.
Getting Kelly back in the pen and adding onr more decent arm there, via trade, should be enough to get this team into 1st.
I don't see another AL east team good enough to run away with it.
I agree with this in principle, but I don't think a top of the line pitcher is going to be available before the deadline.
Hope I'm wrong, but I don't see a Sale or Fernandez being on the market.
I was surprised the Sox traded Wilkerson before giving him a shot at the #5 spot.
Trading another minor leaguer with the potential of Espinoza for a pitcher like Terehan would be a mistake.
I know trading for a really good starter will be painful, but if there are going to be as many question marks involved as there is with Teheran. I'd rather beef up the pen and make do with what we have for starters.
Save the prospects for off season trades this winter. Hopefully, the market will be more diverse then.
I'm still concerned that a good lineup, like the Rangers for instance, are still able to light him up.
If he can shut down good teams (ie: not the Rays) after the break, I'll be happy.
Really? I can pick out 3 by the middle of May.
Apr 11 Balt, 5 IP, 5 ER, 9-7 loss
Apr 21 The Mighty Rays 3.2 IP, 8 ER, 12-8 loss
May 7 Yankees 4.2 IP, 6 ER, 8-2 loss
And who said that?
They need a 4 or 5 starter AND for Price to pitch up to his potential.
Not one or the other.
Not this or that.
BOTH.
Jesus, this is way past ridiculous...
