  1. Losing as many people as the Sox FO has is a valid concern. Particularly when they're some of the top people in scouting and development. The replacement for Sawdaye may do just fine, but losing one of the guys that scouted Jackie Bradley Jr., Mookie Betts, Travis Shaw, Blake Swihart, Michael Kopech and Sam Travis is not good for the Sox.
  2. I'm sure the Guardians have been itching to unload him.
  3. If only we had a choice in the matter. We're stuck with him until his opt out.
  4. Agreed. Buchholz was the best ALDS starter out of the three this year, but that's not saying much. I was surprised at Porcello after he was consistently good all year. I wasn't a bit surrpised that Price spit the bit. It's what he does, when there's a some pressure involved. If Buch's option is picked up, he'd be my fill in option next fall, if they make the playoffs again.
  5. Yup, despite losing their top two starters, the Indian's pitching staff was phenomenal in both series. They outhit Toronto by 7 hits, but it was the starting rotation and Francona's bullpen managment that got it done. Price and Porcello could learn a thing or two about handling playoff pressure from Ryan Meritt.
  6. I don't see the Sox adding another top of the rotation pitcher this off season. As Moon stated in another post, the bullpen needs more help. They'll add some depth at starting pitching but that's about it.
  7. And that others said HFA didn't matter at all Which is also wrong. Arguing just for the sake of arguing (shocking, I know...)
  8. Oh Jesus, the dead horse lives again....
  9. I agree, both farewell tours were a little over the top. I think an emotional let down, after winning the division with an 11 game win streak, had as much to do with it as anything else. Hopefully, the younger members of the staff have learned from it. And trade Price...
  10. I can see the demands of all the festivies taking a lot out of Ortiz, particularly after a long season. But, unless the rest of the team was forced to substantially alter their routines, I can't see how it would affect them. If it's about the kids putting pressure on themselves to send Ortiz out with a another ring, that pressure would be there with, or without the farewell ceremonies.
  11. Ok, what exactly did he have to do differently because of the farewell tour?
  12. The simplest concepts slip right by some people...
  13. I'm not sure I buy the "Price will be better" line. Guys like Beckett and Porcello needed a year to adjust to playing Boston (why, I don't know), but they were also 26 yrs old. I don't see Price getting better at 32 and Porcello regressing at 27.
  14. So, who is Price going to beat out in CY voting, Kluber, Porcello or Britton?
  15. Exactly. The 2007 ALCS was almost as good as the series in 2004.
  16. Really? We have to talk Bucky and Boone, hours before the playoffs start?
  17. Really? I missed that! The idiot. The Rangers should take care of them.
  18. Yup. “No one has been pitching better for us than Ubaldo,” Really, Buck? Pretty sure Britton has. Particularly in those situations. Not that I'm upset about it. I'm looking forward to more fireworks between the Rangers and Jays. Hopefully, they beat the crap out of each other, while the Sox play the Tribe.
  19. I would not be surprised of the commissioner is waiting for the off season to award the Sox an additional low-level prospect or draft pick, to try to compensate them.
  20. Sure, high fiving a fan after a catch could be considered showboating. But, what made that play special was that he turned a double play by gunning down a runner returning to first. You'd have to be a real curmugeon of a fan not to love that, no matter what player pulls it off.
  21. Additional compensation would send a message. How about the Sox get another prospect back. Maybe Espinoza!
  22. I'm not your bro. I have standards.
  23. I's say there's a difference between last August and last week, when puniment was handed out to the SD GM. If the Sox could've sent him back a couple of weeks ago, after getting use out of him, that's different than sending him back immediately after the deadline. And stop being such a pussy. If you're going to post snark, expect to take it once in a while.
  24. That certainly narrows it down...
