  1. Nice job SeanJohn.
  2. According to Dombrowski's latest interview, he still sees Hanley as the probable first baseman for next season. Based on what he's seen in drills, he thinks Hanley has the skills to play first base, and that those skills can be honed in 6 weeks of spring training.
  3. I had read on another site last season, from a poster who had some inside scoop on the Sox, that the FO was extremely high on Bogaerts, despite his rather disappointing 2014. They saw Bogaerts as the long term SS for years to come. This poster was adamant in his opinion that Bogaerts was untouchable. Of course, Dombrowski might have a completely different view when it comes to Bogaerts, but I can't imagine that to be the case. I would be very surprised if Bogaerts is traded. I think the Sox have enough other pieces that they could get some good young pitching without trading him. As you alluded to, one of those pieces might be Swihart.
  4. This Fangraphs is an awesome tool that people should use often. The best part about it is that it's even an awesome tool when it disagrees with you. My impression from the article was that Bogaerts made a conscious effort to change his approach and that is was not something he just happened to stumble across. As good as he's looked at the plate, though, we do need to beware of his very unsustainable BABIP.
  5. No, it's not an excuse. You think everything is an excuse for something. It is quite possible that Ben wants to take some time off from baseball.
  6. Rodriguez might not be classified as a "rookie", but he is still a youngster who will likely experience some growing pains next season. Depending on both Rodriguez and Owens in the rotation from the beginning of the season would be a big mistake, IMO.
  7. Well, we called that one correctly, didn't we? LOL Sometimes it's nice to be wrong.
  8. Good first inning!
  9. As long as you're not watching football instead of baseball, I'll let you slide. Good luck on that Calc test!
  10. That's interesting. When I saw that he was pitching tonight, I thought "he's going to get knocked around". Hopefully, we'll be wrong.
  11. Please beat these stinkin' Os! I am tired of letting them walk all over us! Go Sox!!!
  12. All of our starting pitchers have been on a very nice run.
  13. There was a good article at Fangraphs today regarding Bogaerts change in approach. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-xander-bogaerts-overhaul/
  14. Because we need a game thread, even if no one posts in it. Go Sox!!!
  15. Yes, they do. It really ticks me off too!
  16. Oh geez. I was hoping it wouldn't be Cap'n Crunch. I surrender. I am no match for you, either in a battle of wit or in a fight with knives. LOL Although if we were going to have a knife fight, I'd choose the deep end of an Olympic size swimming pool as my venue.
  17. I never said batting average didn't matter. I have often said it is not the best choice of stats to use to guage a batter's performance. That said, there are times when using BA is applicable. I was honestly going to explain why I chose BA in my previous post, but then I thought to myself, it really shouldn't be necessary to explain why. But, I guess it is. My post in regards to Hill's great outing pointed out that he held the Rays to one hit in 7 innings. Not one baserunner. Not one run. Not one extra base hit. One hit. The Rays' BA shows that they have been getting hits at the 3rd best rate in the AL lately. Hill was able to shut them down. My post was an attempt to get you to realize that Hill pitched a great game. There is no need to try to lessen his accomplishment.
  18. Soxhop, you are cracking me up! And I agree with this post 100%! MVP, I don't even know what you're talking about half the time.

  20. Well, I would have to know what cereal you think is the best overall first. Then I can decide whether we need to fight or not. If, for example, you say Frosted Flakes or Lucky Charms, then I could be swayed to agree with you. If you say Cap'n Crunch or Cinnamon Toast Squares, then let the fight begin!
  21. For some reason, I have never liked my cereal with sliced bananas, though I do like both multi-grain cheerios and bananas.
  22. Four things: 1. It doesn't matter if people can name the Rays hitters or not. All that really tells you is that people don't follow the Rays very closely. 2. Even if their hitters weren't very good, holding them to one questionable hit in 7 innings is a very good pitching performance. 3. Take a look at the Rays' team BA in the months of August and September. They're not as bad as you think they are. 4. No one is annointing Rich Hill our ace of the future. Sometimes you just have to give credit for a job well done.
  23. Honey Nut Cheerios are the best, BTW.
  24. DJ Kitty mojo going strong! There's no stopping us in the battle for 4th place! Go Sox!!!
