  1. Finally! I was so afraid that the offense was going to let us down after a great pitching performance. Great win! Third place, here we come!
  2. Not only did Hill pitch a great game, but our vaunted bullpen did a great job as well. The Rays were held to 3 hits, one of which was very questionable, in 13 innings.
  3. Castillo is indeed still a bonehead. However, his physical skills are coming along quite nicely. Now he just needs to work on those mental skills.
  4. The power is there. I'm sure the homeruns will come with experience. That said, I would much rather have him hitting like he has this year with fewer HRs then have him swinging for the fences and have his overall numbers suffer as a result.
  5. Just to give a shout out to one of my favorite stats, BABIP, Papi's unsustainable .227 BABIP through June, which IIRC was the 2nd lowest of all hitters at the time, told us that his numbers would improve. Also, his batted ball velocity was something like 16th best in baseball at the time.
  6. This is fact. I would never say that he is finished (he has proven his naysayers wrong too many times), but he was as much a part of the problem the first half as everyone else was. Through June 30, his line was .228/.313/.422/.735 . In the offensively putrid month of May, he hit .214/.287/.337/.624 . He was definitely part of the problem. Since July 1, he is hitting .333/.418/.724/1.141 .
  7. Credit Papi for feeling the DJ Kitty mojo. He was given the option of taking the day off, but said he wanted to play.
  8. Today is the day we move out of the cellar for good. DJ Kitty mojo! Go Sox!!!
  9. Tazawa has not been good recently, but seriously, neither has anyone else in our pen, except for maybe Robbie Ross. Lovullo doesn't really have any great options.
  10. I am not familiar with the shootout scene in Django Unchained, but I'm with you on the waterfall and the coral reef. I am fascinated by the power of water.
  11. Thank goodness our pen has, HAD, a 7 run lead to work with.
  12. DJ Kitty mojo!
  13. I think that's why Xander got taken out, though the Rays announcers never tell you anything.
  14. It's hard not to like the guy.
  15. Trade Pedroia!
  16. Congrats to Papi! #500! Watching that gave me chills.
  17. Exactly! They're not quite so annoying when their team is losing. LOL
  18. Trade Pedroia!!!
  19. Mookie is the man!
  20. Always love a good strike 'em out throw 'em out double play!
  21. I believe the Jays scored 4 runs that inning on ONE hit. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I thoroughly enjoyed that.
  22. #499 !!! Go Papi!!!
  23. Well, no one can touch DJ Kitty. Believe me, I am not a fan of the sacrifice, and I think it is way overused. I always thought Farrell sacrificed too much, and that was my biggest criticism of him. From what I've read, most of the sacrifices that we've seen recently, the players have done on their own. In fact, Lovullo has told the players that he would prefer NOT to see them sacrifice in those situations.
  24. Tazawa just doesn't seem to have anything left in the tank. I think it's time to shut him down for the season. Then again, we really don't have any better options in the pen.
  25. Last night's game reminded me of how much I can't stand the Rays, even without Maddon. I don't care how you do it team, just WIN! Go Sox!!!
