  1. 100% accuracy in this post. To state that the Mariners obviously did not want Buchholz is also wrong.
  2. Of course his name was 'involved' in that. There is still nothing that says that the Mariners were given a choice of either one or the other. From everything I've read, the media speculated that the trade centered around Buchholz or Miley, but the media was not sure which one.
  3. Except for me. I'm normal.
  4. OK, that's a definition of cagey that I was not aware of.
  5. I think one of the problems lately is that other teams have the scouting report on Wright's use of the fastball. IMO, he has become a bit too predictable in terms of when he's going to use it. Also, Wright stated that he was tired. I believe he said something to the effect of how nice it would be to have the 4 days off during the all star break, though he's excited about going.
  6. The Sox should sweep the Rays, but I'd be satisfied with winning the series.
  7. They played today, so I think he's talking about today's game, though I didn't watch it.
  8. If I were a guy, I'd say that I have a man crush on Kershaw.
  9. This makes me happy.
  10. I don't necessarily agree with rushing him up, but the FO is operating under a sense of urgency. All I'm saying is that I can see them doing it.
  11. Aww, thanks. I like strawberries and champagne. Sounds like a dangerous combination.
  12. Yeah, he is. It may not last, but for now he is holding his own as a back up outfielder.
  13. Oh, I agree. That's the overall point I was trying to make in my post between Price and Wright. That said, I really can't complain about Price's last outing. I don't like that he put the team in a 0-2 hole to start the game, and I don't like that he gave the Rangers the lead a 2nd time (I do expect my ace to be a shut down pitcher), but the Rangers are a tough offense and Price battled through 8 innings, saving the pen. In most cases, that's good enough to win.
  14. I'm actually kind of hoping the Sox pick up his option again, just so we can continue these debates for another year.
  15. Why is that cagey? He has not flip-flopped, nor has he said anything false. I, too, have said that I would not be surprised if the Ms preferred Miley. Perhaps they were given a choice and they chose Miley, but we don't know that. My biggest beef with some of the arguments here is the leap to the statements that the Mariners clearly did not want Buchholz. There is no merit to that statement.
  16. I love this tweet: Red Sox Stats ‏@redsoxstats 9h9 hours ago Price: 8 ip, 3 er, "this guy sucks" Wright: 6 ip, 4 er, "great job again" Price did his job in his last outing - I have no complaints about that. That said, much of the criticism of Price, fair or unfair, is perception and expectations. Price is a $30 mil per year ace, while Wright is a $500,000 journeyman. What is considered a good job by one pitcher is not considered a good job by another. Even taking salary out of the picture, that would be the case.
  17. And great series win. Thank you Rangers for making 3 infield bobbles in the same inning. Thank you Red Sox for capitalizing on it.
  18. I would like to give Farrell props for putting Kimbrel back in the game last night in a non save situation. Kimbrel asked to be put into last night's game regardless of the score because he wanted to erase the sour taste in his mouth. How much better do you think Kimbrel feels today than he did yesterday? From what I've heard from a fellow poster, Twitter was not happy with Farrell's decision to use Kimbrel last night with a 5 run lead. This is the type of move that used to drive Francona critics crazy too. It may or may not make any difference in the future, but we need Kimbrel to pitch effectively in non-save situations. This vote of confidence from his manager and from himself just might make a difference down the road.
  19. I don't really care about them one way or the other. I was just saying that they stink because they couldn't score one stinking run and beat the Os. They had plenty of chances. I do like their manager though.
  20. I fully agree with this, but if the Sox start scuffling or hovering around .500 ball, and part of it is due to lack of LF production, I can see them throwing Benintendi into the fire to try to give the team a spark.
  21. The Dodgers stink, BTW.
  22. O'Sullivan held his own in his last start. He will be the 4th starter unless he completely bombs.
