  1. I realize that. It doesn't mean I have to like it.
  2. Yup. And I'll eventually live with robot umps too.
  3. LOL It's what we do here. Because the first 100 times we argued a point were not enough.
  4. I watched the end of the Cards/Brewers game on Friday night. The Brewers walked off with a run scoring single and a very close play at the plate, which the Cards challenged. Here's the scenario: Batter hits a single to left field. The runner on second scores on a bang-bang play at the plate. The Brewers start celebrating their walk off win. Hold on! Not so fast. Stop the celebration. The runner might be out and we're going to challenge. So the Brewers players are all standing around now, waiting to see if they can indeed celebrate or not. After a couple of minutes, the ruling on the field stands. Proceed with celebration. Talk about taking away from the moment. #DownWithReplay
  5. I am not a fan of replay and never have been. That said, if they're going to use replay, I think the managers should be given time to check their video feed. On a slightly different note, one of the broadcasters, can't remember who, had a good suggestion on the replay call. If the review team can't make a decision within 45 seconds, the ruling on the field stands.
  6. 100% spot on.
  7. Gotta love Mookie. I'm glad he declined the invitation.
  8. As I just posted in another thread, I don't think he should be called up unless the situation becomes dire. We are not at that point. He may very well be able to handle it, but there are valid reasons for not rushing him, all of which have been posted elsewhere.
  9. I don't think he should be called up before September unless the situation becomes dire.
  10. No he's not. I will be shocked if we don't get at least one starting pitcher.
  11. Me too. I loved Beckett, even after all of the 'chicken and beer' stuff. Personally, I think he got a bum rap for that. Beckett helped me survive the sour taste in my mouth from the 2003 ALCS. It would have been unbearable had the Yankees won the World Series that year. I have been a Beckett fan since then.
  12. LOL No, I have Extra Innings, which cuts the broadcast off pretty much right after the game. I don't get any of the pre or post game stuff.
  13. Yup. As I said, Dombrowski has done a good job with midseason acquisitions so far. He has acquired two needed pieces and hasn't given up much.
  14. We're not necessarily looking for a top of the rotation pitcher. We need someone to solidify the bottom of the rotation. Hellickson is certainly capable of doing that. And given that he would be a 2 month rental, his cost should be reasonable.
  15. I'm sure all teams do, but we really need this All Star break to somewhat heal.
  16. Great game last night. What a great way to make your debut.
  17. No Tazawa, no Kimbrel, and presumably no Koji tonight. We need Barnes to be able to pitch in late and close situations. Let's hope Porcello can go deep today.
  18. This is a very good move. Dombrowski has done a great job with midseason moves so far.

Big time. 5-14 in their last 19 games, including their last 4 in a row. Good thing they got off to such a quick start.
  21. That could very well be. I'll be very surprised if Dombrowski doesn't add at least one solid starter. Then again, I felt that way before he traded Wilkerson.
  22. Yeah, we overpaid for Kimbrel. Not that I'm not happy about having him on my team, but we overpaid.
  23. I feel for you my friend. I sincerely do.
  24. Forget settling for winning the series. I want to sweep the Rays right out of town. Let's do this team! Just win!
  25. I'm not saying that this move naturally leads to us getting a pitcher. I'm saying that I don't think Dombrowski would be willing to part with Wilkerson for Hill if he weren't very certain that he would be able to obtain another starter.
