  1. No, it's not unexpected. That doesn't make it right though.
  2. Jason Mastrodonato ‏@JMastrodonato 22m22 minutes ago Pablo Sandoval has dropped 15 pounds and is "working hard" in Fort Myers, according to John Farrell. Go Pablo. Your only remaining fan is still rooting for you!
  3. LOL Eck really dislikes those unis. I don't think they're that bad.
  4. Ziegler gets the performance of the year. I was hoping he would be able to get out of the inning allowing only one or two runs, keeping us in the lead. Ziegler said eff that, and proceeds to strike out the side in dominant fashion. Awesome. That's the type of thing that keeps me coming back.
  5. Because after the 2nd walk, there was a lefty coming to the plate. Ziegler does not do lefties.
  6. LOL Wouldn't that be nice? It's amazing how he kind of came out of nowhere offensively.
  7. Need a win tonight boys. I don't care how you do it, just do it.
  8. As you said, he won't continue to hit .370, but he should be able to hit at an average level for an MLB catcher. With his defensive skills, if he can be average offensively, I'll take that any day.
  9. Gronk could drive the bus. That would be cool.
  10. Yes he does. As I've told him before, it's kind of annoying, actually.
  11. I was on the fence about Farrell coming into the season, and this season hasn't really helped me in deciding which way to lean with him. With all of the underperformances we saw the last two years, I would agree with you in terms of a general sense that something is amiss with his managerial skills. OTOH, the players seem to really like hiim. As far as his in game strategy goes, I haven't seen anything that glaringly bad. I know many disagree with that. As far as having success with past managers, IMO, Tito is the man. It was a sad, sad time when both Tito and Theo were let go after the 2011 season.
  12. No doubt Bellhorn. We are all guilty of it to one extent or another.
  13. Like I said, Price is a horse. Unless he gets knocked out early, he typically goes over 100 pitches. The pitch count was not an issue, IMO. Either way, I would guess that Farrell had conversations with Price about how he was feeling and about whether the heat was affecting him. Price apparently felt good to go. The BP had been in disarray the last few games. They needed a break.
  14. Not at all Spud. I have no problem with anyone questioning a decision that Farrell makes. Many decisions are questionable, which is not to say they were wrong, just questionable. However, the blame that he gets for some things is not warranted.
  15. My bad. You thought he was 'a little gassed', not that he was toast. The point remains, however, that you were not confident in his ability to get through that inning.
  16. Didn't you just recently post that you worry about tomorrow's game tomorrow, and win tonight's game tonight? Why don't we worry about Price's start during his next start? FTR, I do not agree with that philosophy at all, not during the marathon of a season. That said, it is getting late, and the later it gets, the more Farrell needs to manage like we're in a sprint. We're not quite at that point yet.
  17. I would like to point out that many also knew that Price was toast after the 7th inning of last night's game.
  18. Farrell is not perfect, but all of the blame that he is getting for our recent losses is ridiculous.
  19. Our starters have more or less gotten the job done since the break. Our recent struggles have been the fault of the offense squandering away opportunity after opportunity and the BP implosions. The BP implosions might not have occurred had the offense been able to break some of these games wide open.
  20. But in allowing Price to pitch, that was bullets saved on one of the pen arms. I'm not saying that I necessarily agree or disagree with the decision to leave Price in. I just think that some people have made up their minds that Farrell is an idiot, and that no matter what decision he makes, he's going to be criticized about it. IMO, most of the criticism is unwarranted.
  21. Much of this playoff report is based off of run differential. The O's and the Sox records should be flip flopped.
  22. It's a freaking enigma how stuff like that happens sometimes. Who could foresee the entire pen (save for Buchholz, go figure) would implode as badly as they did over the course of two games? Three games really, but we were able to hang on in the first game against the Yanks.
  23. I'm not only in, I'm also driving the party bus to the playoffs. I am unable to think any other way. Let's go!
  24. Farrell just can't win. No matter what he decides, his move is going to be questioned, even when the move worked out, which means it must have been the right move. I'm guessing Price told Farrell that he was good to go another inning. He has always been a horse as far as pitch count goes. I'm also guessing that Farrell was giving Price his vote of confidence by leaving him in and letting him finish the inning. The human element thing. The lead was big enough to do so. We'll never know for sure, but maybe Farrell's vote of confidence helps Price turn the corner.
  25. Being able to pitch a lot of innings does have its value. Price was not dominant, but he was good enough to get his team the win. Just as important, he spared the pen which has been in somewhat of a shambles lately.
