  1. It's what I like to hear. Of course, we'd hardly expect Sonny to say anything less than flattering.
  2. The Yankees will be a good team. I am a strong believer that the playoffs are mostly a crapshoot, so the goal is to get there.
  3. The statement that HRs win postseason games really isn't true though.
  4. I really, really, like this post. Thank you.
  5. I bow to you and others who come up with all of these trade proposals. I've mentioned before that I'm not as eager to trade Masa as most posters here are, but if there's a deal that makes sense for us, then I'll be good with it.
  6. LOL This literally made me laugh out loud. Get it done, Breslow!
  7. Amen, brother Larry, amen. Breslow did a good job this offseason. The supposed lack of homerun power doesn't concern me as much it concerns others. There are other ways to score runs besides hitting homeruns. Not all chicks did the long ball!
  8. Stop. If you had said 3rd place team at best, I might have been able to let that slide, but 4th place at best? It's possible that we end up in 4th place, but it's also possible that we win the division. Or at least finish in 2nd. It will be a competitive division, for sure, but give the Red Sox a little more credit.
  9. These ST pictures make me happy. 😊 As do the mid 50s temps we've had the past 2 days. We're getting close! I am positive that I would injure myself trying to catch a major league pitcher, even if they threw nothing but fastballs.
  10. Despite the Yankees bringing back virtually the same team, they'll find a way to win. They always do, much to my dismay. I voted for 92-95 wins. They'll make the playoffs. They always do, much to my dismay. I don't know if they'll win the division or not, but they'll be in the hunt. An early playoff exit sounds reasonable. 😜

    Olympics

I'm a big fan of the Olympics. I watch as much of it as I can. Figure skating is my favorite event (all 4 disciplines). It's a sport I follow pretty closely every season. OTOH, curling is something I only watch during the Olympics. I must say, I am completely enthralled by the competition and completely impressed by the curlers. Cory Thiesse is a beast. Good stuff.
  12. Those low scoring games are the most frustrating to watch, no doubt. It stinks to "waste" a great pitching performance. That said, I will take a top pitching staff and mediocre offense over an elite offense and mediocre pitching any day of the week. Hopefully, we will find ways to outscore our opponents far more often than not. Please cut down on those very non-productive at bats.
  13. I am not as bothered by Yoshida still being on our team as most people seem to be, but I understand your point.
  14. You don't think the team can contend for a ring? Pitching and defense will be our strength. By Pythagorean W-L, we were a 92 win team last year. Even if we are only marginally better, that puts us at about 95 wins.
  15. 100%. IKF is a very good utility player and his ability to play multiple positions well gives him value. I like both this signing and the Rodgers signing.
  16. I tend to agree with this. I understand the benefits of versatility, but with younger players like Mayer and Durbin, I think it's beneficial to give them a set position rather than bouncing them back and forth. I feel the same way about having a set position in the batting order. Baseball players are such creatures of habit. I think Campbell might have fared better if they hadn't moved him around, both defensively and in the line up.
  17. I think our team is more or less complete and looking good. Maybe a bullpen arm?
  18. In assessing the Devers trade, it's not nearly as simple as looking at it as a Devers for Durbin swap. I think we all know that. But yes, please do not become Grissom, Part 2.
  19. IKF can also catch in a pinch. I'm good with what we have at catcher. If anything, I'd look for BP help.
  20. I am pleased with Breslow's work this offseason.
  21. I most definitely am refreshed by the idea of a batter who can bunt and doesn't strike out. The strike outs over the past two seasons have frustrated me greatly.
  22. Cost controlled and under team control through 2031. What's not to like? He sounds like a solid player offensively, defensively, and on the basepaths. Not a superstar in any regard, but solid.
  23. The Red Sox have addressed my biggest concern with the infield in acquiring Durbin, IKF, and Rodgers (minor league deal). We now have some solid depth and some solid flexibility all around. For those concerned with Mayer playing every day, the trade for Durbin also addresses that. Durbin may not be the big bat that some were hoping for, but Durbin does make us a better overall team. As as added plus, we did not have to trade Bello.
  24. I won't argue with that. He's still a good depth acquisition.
  25. There we go. Our infield problems are solved, with an added bonus of improving catching depth. But seriously, this is a good depth acquisition and possible starting utility player?
