  1. Fair enough.
  2. I don't know, listening to Eck, I think he believes it. LOL
  3. It turned out to be the right move for us to not sign him, but I was not happy when he signed with the Yankees. It broke my heart. Oddly enough, however, I had no problems with Ellsbury signing with the Yankees.
  4. It looks like a nice stadium. One of these days I'll make it to the west coast to see some ball games.
  5. I'm not sure that Farrell is on the cutting edge of change. He did give some hope when he defended batting Mookie in the lead off spot, but I don't think he's there yet.
  6. Thank you, I'm glad you like my stats and theories. I don't like Holt batting 2nd, nor do I like him batting 1st, but in both cases, it worked out. If Holt had batted 9th both games, it probably would have also worked out. As far as Holt taking more pitches than any other Sox player, he is 3rd behind Betts and Young, unless you want to count Travis and Kyle Kendrick. However in terms of who sees the most pitches per PA, that would be Holt with 4.73, unless you want to count Pomeranz and Selsky. LOL
  7. I think that with the absence of Papi, some of our guys tried to do too much. Mookie being one of them, Hanley being another. I worry about a lot of things. Mookie Betts is not one of them.
  8. It's like I read your mind. LOL
  9. It was really nice to see Young have a great game like that. As many have mentioned, it can't be easy keeping your timing right when you're not playing every day. For a 4th outfielder, he is fine.
  10. I have never been a fan of long term contracts. I'm with you, 4 years looks about right. Anything over that I consider long term. I realize that long term contracts are a reality and a necessity, but they should be the exception, not the norm. And 10 years is insane.
  11. The point being that just because people who 'have actually played the game' believe that something is true, that does not necessarily mean that it is true. Perhaps line up protection (among other things) is an illusion, just like the rising fast ball.
  12. This would not be as bad since it's technically a 7 year deal in terms of his FA years. But still.
  13. I can agree with this. Then again, if ever there were a 30 year old pitcher to give a big contract to, it would be Price. They just almost never work out.
  14. I don't know about Chris Young, but MVP is the GOAT!
  15. I'm glad we were able to play them (and win) for 4 games, but I kind of feel sorry for them. LOL
  16. Reed is our situational guy, like Miller. Farrell liked using him against the top of the order in this series due to their speed and Reed's ability to deter base stealers.
  17. LOL It is always funny to read the game threads after the fact. When we win, that is. Not so much fun to read them after a loss.
  18. Fister actually ended up pitching pretty well. I love how he gets the ball and pitches.
  19. That's what I've read. It makes sense.
  20. I am far from a Dombrowski fan, but I do not blame Dombrowski for the Shaw trade.
  21. I am not a physicist, I'm just going by what they say. My understanding is that the main reason why it can't rise is because of gravity. The top spin on some fastballs cause them not to fall as much as other pitches, which gives the illusion of the ball rising.
  22. They are an incredible 36 games out of the division. Credit the Dodgers for most of that, but still.
  23. LOL Well, I was never mad at him to begin with, so I have nothing to forgive him for. He made some mistakes. He tried his best to atone for them. It didn't work. Now if you want to hear about unforgiving, I still haven't forgiven Damon for breaking my heart. LOL
  24. Not overruled by Larry Theo. I have said the same thing about Cashman for years. IMO, I think he's a very good GM who, unfortunately, had to deal with Levine and boss George.
