  1. As long as we score more runs than they do! Sox for the mini sweep! Let's go!!!
  2. The cliff is very real. Even Henry acknowledges it and has started pulling Dombrowski back. They are now putting more focus on trying to fix the cliff.
  3. Yeah, I love what Nunez has done for us and I hope it continues. But it won't. Will Nunez be better than Holt? Probably. But we really need to get through this season first.
  4. I can do Nationals park. It's within driving distance, though the traffic is horrendous. I think I'll go by train.
  5. Probably. I have given credit to Dombrowski over and over again for the team he put together for the 'window'. I have always said that we have a very good team for the short term, and have found myself defending him on numerous occasions. I give credit where credit is due. That said, the impending cliff is an entirely different matter.
  6. I have no problems with our catching tandem. I would be perfectly fine going with the same duo next year.
  7. This really stinks.
  8. That's the thing about baseball. Sometimes you have a lot of hits and base runners, and can only score 2 runs. Other times you might only get 2 hits but score 4 runs. It's all about the timing of the hits, which really can't be controlled. The key is still to generate base runners, which typically will then generate runs.
  9. Hey MVP, did you see my response to this post before it magically disappeared?
  10. Lou Merloni‏Verified account @LouMerloni 2h2 hours ago I don't know... between this new lineup and the way he's used Reed in the 7th, this John Farrell guy is growing on me. #BigBoyLineup
  11. For anyone wondering: Pete Abraham 6m Rodriguez, Pomeranz and Sale vs. the Yankees. Fister gets the Guardians makeup game on Monday.
  12. I have always thought there was a lot of merit to pitchers having the same catcher each outing, not only for the pitcher's sake, but for the catcher as well. The drawback of that is what happens in case of injury to one of the catchers, as you mentioned. Having that familiarity with Vazquez would certainly help, but I don't know that I'd want to disrupt Sale in the middle of a fairly tight pennant race. So for the immediate future, I would say no. Can they do that in a bullpen session or something?
  13. I just don't see the Sox wanting to trade Porcello. I have said it many times and I'll say it again. Porcello's contract is one that I would do all over again all day long, without the benefit of hindsight. It was probably a little more $ per year at the time, but the Sox were able to get him for fewer years than he would have likely received otherwise. Not to mention they are his prime years. According to Fangraphs, Porcello was worth $41.7 mil last year. So far this year, he's been worth $14.9 mil with about 1/3 of the season to go. That would put him right on pace to be worth about $21 mil this year. This deal is hardly the disaster that some people make it out to be.
  14. All great pickups indeed.
  15. Sale will deny it until he's blue in the face (putting all the blame on himself), but I can't help but think that not having Leon in that last outing contributed to the poor performance. I am not knocking Vazquez at all - I love the guy - but not having worked with Sale all, he can't possibly know the ins and outs of Sale the way Leon does.
  16. Acquiring Nunez, and having him get off to such a hot start, has really given Farrell some much needed flexibility. Xander appears to be heating up.
  17. Yup, seems to be working all right now. It stinks that all those posts got erased.
  18. Nah, Eck has been talking about the rising fastball for the past several games now, which is why I brought it up in the first place. It was already a topic on the telecast before we started discussing it.
  19. LOL Post of the game thread right here!
  20. Sale and Kimbrel were absolute pitching dominance. It was a thing of beauty. Chalk one up for Dombrowski.
  21. This was a pure mental lapse. This one's on Jackie.
  22. I had the Rays feed last night, so I didn't get a chance to hear him. That is probably a good thing though. Much like with Damon, I have a hard time looking at Boggs. The Rays guys were actually uncharacteristically complimentary about both Sale and Kimbrel, although they credited Sale with his masterful pitch selection when it is Leon who selects all the pitches for him.
  23. It's very odd. Many posts are not showing up, but which posts don't show up depends on which device I'm using. I made a post about this in the Sox Hitting thread on my tablet. It does not show up when I'm using my laptop, but if I get back on my tablet, there it is. And a post I made on my laptop this morning does not show up when I'm on my tablet. As far as posts from last night and other people's posts from this morning, it seems to be random as to which ones are there and which ones are not.
