  1. I always enjoy the ride. I think I am the least fretting person on the board.
  2. He did call out Pomeranz. What for, exactly, I don't know. Perhaps it is just coincidence that Pom started pitching well after that, but he called him out.
  3. Yeah, I think that's mostly Max. LOL
  4. I agree with this.
  5. I agree with your overall point. I try not to criticize a manager for his in game moves because, as you said, we don't have all the information that a manager. Farrell is much better equipped to make these decisions than any of us armchair managers are. That doesn't mean that he doesn't make mistakes, but he's not as bad as most people make him out to be. Also, just because a move does not work does not mean that it was the wrong move.
  6. Just say no to Stanton's contract. And having to give up prospects on top of it? No thanks.
  7. Yeah, Nunez is getting a lot of love right now because of his hot hitting, but he is not the answer as our full time shortstop, or full time anything, IMO.
  8. Are you sure that's the case? I really have no idea, but he was on the 40 man at one time, and once he was removed, his salary no longer counted. Wouldn't that be the case again if he is removed from the 40 man?
  9. Both teams are 8-2 in their last ten games. It should be a fun game. Sox for the win!!! Let's go!!!
  10. Actually, the existing players other than Beni are pretty much doing what they've been doing.
  11. He has been pretty good. Do you think he's going to continue on this pace? Do you think he will never go into a slump? I am preaching patience with him, for when he inevitably hits that bump in the road, because he is good.
  12. Thank you. I love a good baseball debate and I love when people disagree with me. That's why I come here.
  13. Quite a few.
  14. LOL Apparently, you didn't get the memo.
  15. OK, so how does all that translate into 'we definitely need EE'? It would be nice to have him, for sure, but we don't need him, not at the expense of going over the tax limit.
  16. Fans can have a say in and care about anything they want, including saves. All I'm saying is that fans tend to overvalue the save stat, as they overvalue batting order.
  17. Good stuff Mal. That would be awesome.
  18. Yes. We all know that you were right and others were wrong. We get it. That said, I'm not sure who said that he shouldn't be in Boston in 2017, so I don't think that was the 'realistic expectation' of anyone.
  19. Yeah, Devers and Nunez seemed to give the offense a spark when they arrived, but now it seems that the spark might be short lived. As you said, we are mostly getting production from 3 guys. The other guys in the lineup need to start producing up to expectations. Devers and Nunez are not going to be this hot forever.
  20. It's all about perception. Who knows what he was actually thinking?
  21. No doubt he would have improved our offense. But that does not mean that he was a need. Here is one case where Dombrowski, or more likely Henry, was not thinking solely of the short term. Our offense has been good enough to keep us in 1st place. It should be even better than it has been. I'm good with not signing him.
  22. 10th in runs scored 13th in BsR (base running, and that includes all the negative we get from hitting in DPs) 7th in run differential And most importantly, 4th in Winning % Is that great? No. Did we definitely need Encarnacion? No.
  23. And leadership.
  24. Yes, I realize that some people were against giving Price the huge contract, myself being one of them. I am against giving a long term contract to a 30+ year old pitcher. Actually, I'm pretty much against long term contracts altogether. What I was trying to say was that if we are going to hand out that type of contract to a 30+ year old pitcher, Price would be the best bet. It's similar to the way I feel about giving Mookie a 10 year deal. I'm opposed handing out that type of contract, but if we are going to do it, Mookie would be the guy to give it to.
