  1. Ha. Our entire offense this season has been rather enigmatic, if you ask me.
  2. Would that mean that the idea of line up protection is mostly a myth?
  3. I really hope that the two sides can work out a 6-7 year deal. That would be ideal for both sides, IMO.
  4. As I've said before, if we are going to hand out a 10 year contract to anyone, Mookie is the player I'd do it for. And, it would be much more preferable to do it now than to wait until he reaches free agency.
  5. The pitcher-catcher relationship is one of the intangibles that I feel most strongly, if not the strongest, about. I have said many times that what we get from our catchers offensively is gravy. #BringBackVaritek
  6. Maybe. But if we were one of those teams that is 8 games out of the division but only 2.5 games out of the 2nd spot, we'd be thankful.
  7. ^^This! I'm getting really sick of losing to the Yankees, period. It's time to stop letting them hang around, and time to put the nail in the coffin. Get it done boys!
  8. Nice.
  9. I'm telling you, he's making his line ups to appease you!
  10. Nunez, rather than Lin, will likely be used to give Bogaerts a rest. Hanley could probably use a few days off too, even though he's mostly DHing. Pedroia will likely DH a few games to rest his knees. I don't think there will be much of a problem keeping Nunez in the lineup.
  11. Has anyone heard how SoxHop is doing?
  12. Good to hear Moon, especially about your cat.
  13. They put you back together though.
  14. No offense to any of us on this forum because we are all knowledgeable here, but I'm sure Farrell is getting opinions from people who are much smarter baseball people than we are. And I'm talking from both the scouting and stat side of things. I do agree with moving a batter down in the order when he's struggling, just to take the pressure off.
  15. You're probably right that it will take a 10 year deal to sign him. I'm probably in the minority, but if that's the case, I would sadly let him walk.
  16. Currently, yes. I'm not talking about overnight change, but I could see it happening over time. Back in the day, people probably would have thought the idea of regularly pulling starters after 5 or 6 innings was nuts too.
  17. Just WIN!!! That is all.
  18. Blown saves are probably even more whack than the save stat.
  19. Vaz is hitting well, but Farrell has the catchers matched up to be personal caddies to specific pitchers. Leon catches Sale, Porcello, and Fister, while Vaz catches ERod and Pom. I don't think Farrell is going to change that to get Vaz more at bats, nor do I think he should if the pitchers want their personal caddies.
  20. Reed pitched the 7th because that's when the heart of the order was up. I really like that Workman got the 8th inning. And props to Pom. He didn't have his best stuff, but he battled and got the big outs when he needed them, with a little help from the defense, including himself.
  21. It would have been called stupid baserunning for sure. In the meantime, the team's UBR (taking extra bases) has improved to +4.7 runs.
  22. Hanley swings for the fences every time. He should try not to do too much. On the topic of trying to do too much, I have sincerely wondered how much of the team's struggles are a result of some of the hitters trying to do too much in the wake of Ortiz' absence. Maybe some of them have put too much pressure on themselves to be 'the guy' with Ortiz no longer on the team.
  23. I'm guessing Farrell is reading Talksox and he's making his line ups to appease you.
  24. Some say a little slow on the uptake, others say that he's exercising patience. I have no problem with Farrell exercising patience, especially given my opinions on batting order.
