  1. It will be a while before we will know that. It's good to be able to get value out of your prospects through trade as well. I don't disagree with that concept. I just think that Dombrowski went over the top with it.
  2. You may be right about all of that. I really have no idea what Jackie is thinking.
  3. Well, that was my initial thought. And if the Sox in any way have to bring him back before he is ready, then don't do it. OTOH, if he is indeed healthy and ready to go, I think it would be kind of unprofessional to shut him down. Yes, they could limit his outings to a few innings each time.
  4. I can agree with this.
  5. But it really was. Now I'm not saying we didn't need pitching help. We did. But we did not have to go the extreme that Dombrowski went to get the team there. Dombrowski is not some genius who magically transformed this team into a championship team. The overwhelming bulk of it was already in place.
  6. It is really hard to judge how much teams are going to spend this offseason. IMO, Jackie would likely get an offer of greater than what is being proposed on this site. Maybe even from the Sox, though I would be surprised if any offer comes close to $11 million. It's hard to know if he would be willing to take slightly less money to stay in Boston. I just hope he stays.
  7. That could be. I guess there is the whole integrity thing that I posted about before. For the sake of the game, the Sox need to try to field the best team and continue to play hard every game.
  8. I really don't see the point in it.
  9. I am far more inspired by those "smaller moves" than I am with the flashy ones. While I am very grateful for 2018, I can't go as far as saying that I'm glad we hired Dombrowski.
  10. Agree with this as well. As much as I disliked Dombrowski's early moves, I have given him due credit for his moves in 2018.
  11. Agree with this.
  12. Ah, we finally agree on something.
  13. I have no doubt in my mind. That's how good the team was before Dombrowsi came on board. It didn't have to be Ben. It could have been pretty much any GM.
  14. My dream is to field a team of mostly home grown, cost controlled players, then fill the gaps with inexpensive, yet very productive free agents, then beat up on the Yankees year after year with a team that costs a fraction of what the Yankees spend.
  15. Look on the bright side. The Yankees spent a fortune on their pen and aren't getting much more production than the Sox are getting from their dumpster dives.
  16. There's no reason to rush him back. I would shut Eovaldi down too.
  17. I'd prefer to keep it at 1 or 2 years, but I'd be okay with 3.
  18. The Sox are playing HR Derby. Too bad they're all solo shots.
  19. Theo is the GOAT. Period.
  20. I am willing to bet that the turnaround would have been immediate with or without Dombrowski.
  21. What is it that allowed Dombrowski to acquire Kimbrel and Sale? And sign Price, for that matter.
  22. The Sale trade, in and of itself, has been fine. He has pitched well enough for us when he stays healthy.
  23. ^^^ Some people would consider that overspending for Jackie.
  24. I would give him about half of that for one or two years. I am a JBJ fan.
  25. Any of the deals taken individually were okay, except for the Kimbrel deal. I thought that the trade for Sale was excessive, though taken in a vacuum, it was perfectly fine. It was the totality of his trades that was the problem.
