  1. Even more infuriating that Barnes gave up the home run with 2 outs. The Sox pen was not stellar. The Sox were also helped out by some shaky defense on the Yankees' part. That said, a slightly different launch angle on Bogaerts' line single in the bottom of the 9th and the Sox would have walked off. Or a slightly different launch angle on Sanchez' line shot, for that matter, might have given the Sox the win. As they say, baseball is a game of inches.
  2. It sounds like we got a very good return in our PTBNL.
  3. On the telecast last night, Werner said that the Sox would not be going into a long rebuilding process and that they would be back next year. I know that this is what management types tend to say, but I believe this is the case. You can bet that Henry doesn't like losing any more than the fans do. He won't tolerate another season like this. The sentiment was echoed by Remy and Eck. If they say it, you know it's true. (Except for when they talk about rising fast balls.) I still don't believe there will be any big free agent signings, but I am confident the team will be competitive.
  4. It's been a very small sample, but Arroyo is making us take notice. It would be great if he worked out as our 2B for at least the near future. One less thing to worry about. It was recently pointed out to me that Perez' peripherals are not pretty. He has an xFIP of 5.21 and a BABIP of .244. He's due for some regression. That said, I still think picking up his option for 2021 is a no brainer for the Sox.
  5. I know nothing about Wallace outside of the very little I've read since yesterday, but it sounds like a pretty good get for Pillar.
  6. I have no comment about tonight's game.
  7. Despite the loss, it was a good game up until the end. I had a feeling that once the Yanks tied it, they would win. However, it take take the Yankees 12 innings to beat us by 1 run and the Sox had their share of chances. This is the very type of game that defines the randomness of the sport. I know many will disagree, but the Yankees won that game more due to randomness than they did due to outperforming the Sox. Some positives to take from that game: Perez, Arroyo, some good defense, and I got the NESN feed instead of YES. I enjoyed the game.
  8. Ha. It's like the times I wanted to type "I'm not even going to dignify that with a response" (not to you) or something along those lines, but then I would be dignifying it with a response.
  9. You're on a roll Bell!
  10. Pete Abraham @peteabe · 23s #RedSox received RHP Jacob Wallace as the PTBNL for Kevin Pillar. That's a good get. He's a former 3rd-round pick out of UConn and a Methuen High grad. Baseball America had him 15th in Rox organization before the season. College reliever, good fastball.
  11. On a side note, Workman had another tough outing with the Phillies last night. I feel bad for the guy.
  12. It's complicated, but at the same time they said that ERod had a good medical update. Sounds hopeful.
  13. LOL I hadn't really thought of him as my new Buchholz, but I'm with you Bell!
  14. I have no comment.
  15. To date, the extension has not been good. That said, I like the signing, though I would have preferred one less year.
  16. It is time for the Red Sox to stop being the Yankees' punching bag.
  17. Pablo definitely had comedic value to most of you guys.
  18. If he were not 100% healthy, then shutting him down makes sense. But he worked his way back to health and pitched well. It's only 1 or 2 more starts anyway. When he was working his way back, I initially posted that the Sox should just shut him down. I've changed my mind. The games might be meaningless to the Sox, but many of them are not meaningless to other teams.
  19. If the Sox had won the championship that year, chicken and beer would have been viewed as a positive clubhouse thing, much like the antics of the 2004 idiots were viewed.
  20. Another example of ownership overreacting and going to the opposite extreme, not with the GM but with the manager.
  21. Given a choice between signing Lester or Price, I would have taken Lester, hands down. Not even open for discussion.
  22. !!! He did say that he is open to the possibility of a reunion with the Sox.
