  1. Strange things, indeed. I read that he climbed the outside of the Green Monster to get in. A 37 foot wall? Are you kidding me? Also, he was not arrested, but taken for a psychiatric evaluation instead.
  2. Agreed. A lot depends on what happens over the winter in terms of pitching, but I expect to see Houck with the team sooner rather than later.
  3. We have the Yankees right where we want them for next season.
  4. Trading Eovaldi and not getting starting pitching back is nuts. The suggestion to swap bad contracts with Odor is nuts. If Eovaldi can be packaged with another player or players so that we upgrade in the pitching department, it might make sense.
  5. It's already being speculated that the Phillies are willing to go 6 years at an AAV of about $23 million. I would not try to match or beat that. I'm hesitant to do even 5 years. I would love to have him on our team, but I think it's going to take 6 or 7 years. We'll see. Maybe the market just won't be there.
  6. It will be interesting. That said, I know I've posted before that all the speculation during the trade deadline and offseason drive me crazy. I'd rather not hear anything about it until it's a done deal. LOL
  7. I would be okay with $13M/2. I don't think I'd go any higher. A big factor here for me is that the deal would only be for 1 or 2 years.
  8. Who knows if Downs will ever amount to anything? However, IMO, you take the potential every day position player over the reliever every time, even if the position player is 'blocked' and pitching is our weakness. As you've mentioned, Downs could potentially be traded for pitching. If Graterol were slated to be a starter, then it's a different story.
  9. I don't care how meaningless this was, it was a feel good game all around for Sox fans and a good way to end the season series against the Yankees. Best part - knocking Garcia out of the game after only 3 innings.
  10. According to a comment I heard during the game, Bloom's plan as of now is to have Houck in AAA next year.
  11. That was the oddest thing ever. How in the heck did the dude get into the park?
  12. I had not seen him pitch before. I was turned off from pitch #1.
  13. Eck and Remy were certainly not impressed.
  14. Another reason to like Bloom.
  15. I would not sign Bauer to a big contract either. Like many have said, this is not the year for the Sox to make splashy moves, for several reasons. Find those stop gap players that will keep the team competitive in 2021. Reassess for 2022.
  16. I fully understand trading Vaz for pitching. I am not on board with signing Realmuto to the type of contract that he will likely get.
  17. Trading Eovaldi for a non pitcher makes no sense to me.
  18. I would happily bring JBJ back on a team friendly deal.
  19. So far, so good. The real work is going to come this offseason (and the over the next couple of years.)
  20. Stop. He's 25 years old and has played all of 81 games at the big league level. He may not ever become an everyday starter, but he has hardly proven anything at this point.
  21. Take a look at his peripherals. There is no excuse for why the Sox offense allowed him to dominate like that.
  22. The losses have been 100 times easier to take this season. I still hate losing to the Yankees though. My hope is that we can at least win the game today to keep the Yankees from clinching a playoff spot against us.
  23. It should (hopefully) be a good and fun match up of pitching youngsters. One bright side of the Sox stinking so badly is that we are not the Sunday night ESPN game. LOL
  24. I don't blame Barnes for the loss. If JD makes contact, the Sox have a great shot at winning. If the Sox pen doesn't give up runs in the 7th and 8th innings, the Sox have a great chance of winning.
  25. Tough break for Verlander. I don't like to see any player go through injury, even if they were cheaters. On the bright side, in his words, he'll get to spend more time with his family. That can't be a bad thing when you're married to Kate Upton, right? (Although he specifically mentioned spending more time with his daughter and his family, not specifically mentioning his wife. LOL)
