  1. Yes.
  2. Positive game threading! I like it!
  3. My Dombrowski thought: I would have preferred we never hired him.
  4. The question for me is, did Dombrowski have to make all of the trades that he did early in his tenure here for the Sox to be successful? The answer for is is a resounding NO. We could have had the best of both worlds.
  5. Bloom and Theo operate under the same philosophy. How well Bloom implements that philosophy remains to be seen. Based on what I've seen in Tampa and what I've seen Friedman do with the Dodgers, I am very optimistic.
  6. Better the Angels than the Red Sox!
  7. Here are some interesting numbers: Red Sox Notes @soxnotes · In their last 16 games, Red Sox starters have posted a 3.15 ERA and held opponents to a .224 AVG (68.2 IP, 24 ER, 56-for-250). In their last 5 games, Sox starters have a 1.04 ERA and a .128 opponent AVG (26.0 IP, 3 ER, 11-for-86).
  8. Don't pull a Swihart on him!
  9. I'm hearing today that the Sox expect him to be a part of the rotation next season, so I'm expecting him to be back, one way or the other. I just wouldn't depend on him to carry a lot of innings. I don't think any player is happy about sitting through an arbitration hearing. Whether ERod harbors ill feelings or not, I don't know. I have not heard anything to suggest that he does. That said, I thought it was kind of silly to haggle over such a small amount.
  10. One I like from this season is when the Padres became the first team ever to hit grand slams in 4 consecutive games.
  11. At this point, I don't think we should count on ERod for anything in 2021. Even if he is given the green light, the Sox have said that they're not ramping him back up to anything close to 200 innings. I'd plan the offseason as though he won't be back. Then when he hopefully returns, that will be some very welcome depth.
  12. If he would just stay with that opposite field approach.
  13. I would much rather see the Sox keep these employees on their payroll and not pay the players so much.
  14. The battle to claw our way out of sole possession of last place. Let's do it! I am interested to see Pivetta pitch.
  15. That could very well be the case. It'll be good for him to get some quality father-daughter time with his daughter.
  16. Correction: We were consistently good until the aftermath of Dombrowski. Bloom has a big mess to clean up. Dombrowski had little concern with the long term when he made all of those initial deals. In other words, that was not a plan to be consistently good. That was a plan to be very good for a few years.
  17. I don't disagree that there may be a time when a big deal is made to put us over the top. (Hopefully, it will never be a Mookie length big deal.) But again, this is not the year for such a deal. Having said that, not making the big deal this year does not mean the team can't be competitive in 2021.
  18. I understand that signing a big contract is probably inevitable. I don't think the timing is right for the Sox to make that type of deal this offseason. The large contract should be the rare exception, not the norm.
  19. Ah yes. We had forgotten that everything Yankees = Good and everything Red Sox will not work out. Thanks for reminding us.
  20. Ha. Exactly!
  21. It's certainly possible. I'm just saying that I would be glad to have JBJ back. Whoever they get, I want great defense out of my CFer.
  22. I was surprised that the Sox did not land a pitcher. However, I'm guessing that the FO did pursue pitching, but deemed Downs to be the best player that they could get. In trades like this, as with in drafts, the team should try to get the best player rather than trying to fill a position of need.
  23. I'm going off of what I've read from the teams that were involved in the trade. They all projected him to be a reliever. It's possible that he could become a starter. But based off of those reports, along with his injury, I understand completely why Bloom backed down from that trade. Bloom could have asked for pitching from the Dodgers, and I'm guessing he did, but Friedman is no idiot either.
