  1. exactly
  2. C'mon, John. You KNOW Franco's going to be available at a HUGE discount.
  3. It's not Henry's 660 million investment he doesn't care about. It's his customers. He apparently has convinced himself that they are morally obliged to throw money at him even for a mediocre product. What a lot of us life-long customers want is simple: we want him to improve the product. We don't (or I don't) give a rat's behind how much money he makes or loses.
  4. https://www.audacy.com/weei/sports/red-sox/kennedy-liar-if-you-say-red-sox-ownership-isnt-committed?fbclid=IwAR19-DSmNwMvSzeIv8bwggLCwS-YaDaaIeUanwt2UaBl4Z1fOiu8gWCpHfI I think Kennedy needs to learn the difference between "you're a liar" and "you are not correct." In this situation, only one of the parties can be guilty of lying.
  5. Because there was no need. Check the attendance figures from the late 70s, early 80s. Dropped more than a half-million, even below league average, until 1986.
  6. See you there. One thing for sure: no one will be listening in on the RS, since no SeaDogs fan is really going to give a cr*p about them.
  7. Brslow: "The timing didn’t work in our favor thus far but, again, I think it’s worth reiterating that I wouldn’t say this is predictive or indicative of how we intend to operate going forward." Good God. WTF does this even mean? "It is worth repeating thaat I would not say that ..." It sounds like the kind of sentence one had to construe in order to pass a language exam. Or maybe in a Latin grammarbook on the sequence of tenses.
  8. Well, you're right. But it's pretty hard to avoid it when discussing that state--one of 3 I've never been to. And don't plan on correcting that.
  9. Well, as long as you're white, mildly racist, have no chance of getting pregnant, live on social security, and don't care about education, I'm sure it's fine.
  10. None. And once they were granted immunity, they sang like canaries. Cora did NOT throw his players under the bus, and spoke very frankly about his own experiences in Puerto Rico and the matter of sign-stealing, which was accepted as a normal part of the game.
  11. As an LAClips fan, I hate the concept: a special section where fans of opposing teams or wearing other team's gear are not allowed? So management is essentially encouraging boorish behavior among dead-beat fans. Why? To me, it's the worst part of going to games live.
  12. dude. You were the one who brought up Landis as the pinnacle of morality.
  13. He also would have been able to maintain his high moral stature without having to worry about, you know, those black people.
  14. I think they're written on his meds description.
  15. You've been repeatedly asked to name these three. Just do it, and stop with the evasive b.s.
  16. So now Warner walks back his "full throttle" comment, claiming what he REALLY meant was "pressing all levers." An even worse metaphor, in that humans operate throttles, rats in a Skinner black boxes press levers.
  17. But he, along with Betts, got us Alex "Blow-Up" Verdugo!!!
  18. As long as customers keep handing over money, thaat's what they can expect/
  19. So Breslow says ownership is "still supportive of assembling a World Series team ...." Well hell, I'm still supportive of winning the lottery, of sleeping with a neighbor of mine, of having my 40-year-old car pass inspection, of tomorrow being 75 degrees and cloudless ...
  20. I believe Inquiring Minds now need to know who "he" refers to in your last sentence! I was going to guess Breslow ... but I see that's not right.
  21. I think there's a distinction here: Of course star players do not NECESSARILY make a team successful. I'm only talking about what fans want to see (like the movies: a bad movie with Marlon Brando is better than a better movie without him, as far as entertainment goes.). As kids, we also latch on to individual players (usually, although not always, stars--my fave was Jerry Casale!) As for me 'trading my fandom' to LAD--in part, yes: I will watch LAD and SD games in preference to RS at times simply because I am familiar with the players (I admit I spend much of the winter in LA).
  22. David Ortiz was quite vocal about disagreeing with you.
  23. Yeah, it's odd. Like what did he think? 'Tampa North'? only that magically, the seats would fill? (something that never happened in Tampa). Likely most people who go to games go to see stars, not a team, however successful. I know I do! If I could see Ted Williams, or Yaz, or Rice, or Betts, I was happy; winning was secondary.
  24. Yeah I got carried away. I will never forgive the RS for Betts. So that said, what about the other three questions before my enthusiastic fit got the better of me?
