  1. Infield defense has changed a bit, of course, thanks to all the wonderful shifts.
  2. But you could do so in your capacity as Talksox Historian.
  3. Yep. I meant "with Bogey and Devers as the left side of the infield".
  4. Larry, did it occur to you that they won 2 division titles and 1 championship with Bogey and Devers?
  5. No one's going to object to Bauer pitching for us, that's for sure. It all depends if there's room for him in John Henry's money pie.
  6. Probably so. Montaigne was a very interesting fellow.
  7. Indeed he did.
  8. Marcus Stroman returns to Mets by accepting $18.9 million Qualifying Offer.
  9. Funnily enough, I'm reading a book right now about French philosopher Michel Montaigne. He was extremely fond of the Greek word "epekho", which means "I suspend judgment".
  10. Plus Sanchez's 2020 sample is nothing short of horrific.
  11. My favorite hockey team as a kid was the Blackhawks, because of Bobby Hull. When Hull jumped to the WHA, that put an early end to my passion for the game.
  12. It's a good question. Some Yankee fans refer to the team's analytics guys as 'the Kids in the Hall' because they think they're stationed close to the dugout. I would hope that in general that input all comes before the game.
  13. You are 100% correct. This is what happens when you post before looking things up.
  14. To me Dalbec looks like a much better bet than Chavis.
  15. Good stuff by AC, IMO. Give the young man a much-needed vote of confidence.
  16. Jacques Plante, the first goalie to wear a mask, I think, drew stitches on his mask to signify all the wounds he'd have if he wasn't wearing it.
  17. I probably have a bias toward Cash because of how the Rays stomped the Yanks this year.
  18. Some more on this: Alex Speier @alexspeier• Cora on Snell getting pulled notes that he made the decision, based on information from analytics, to leave Eduardo Rodriguez in vs Puig in 2018 WS G4 and it proved to be the wrong decision. After the fact, he realized, ‘This is not the same Eduardo that our information says. In other words, there are identifiable extenuating circumstances in a moment to consider beyond the larger data sets from analytics. There’s preparation, but ‘There’s not a script.’ Cora says he and Bloom discussed the Snell decision. ‘There’s no black and white’ on managerial decisions. Decisions are ‘a partnership.’ Cora says you have to use information to make decisions, but that information takes different forms. "identifiable extenuating circumstances in a moment to consider beyond the larger data sets from analytics"
  19. Maybe I should have amended to 'Holy cowshit'.
  20. It was 30 games. But still, they do jump out as inferior to previous years. I would think that had something to do with the recurring injury problem.
  21. I assume he's one of the very best ever. His 2020 short sample numbers were not nearly as good as 2019, though, correct?
  22. Edwin has much nicer luggage, though. Dude has made over $65 million during his travels.
  23. We're Canadians, man. Generally speaking, everybody does what they're told to do. Haven't seen a soul not wearing a mask in a store yet.
  24. Plus the fact that it's the same recurring issue.
  25. Interesting stat on Gary Sanchez: 120 postseason PA's 44 K's 6 BB's Holy cow.
