  1. You don't have to worry about Springer.
  2. It's not that bad for a one year deal IMO. He's projected to be worth it. We gave Porcello 82.5 for 4 years, and he really wasn't that much better. Could be tradable at the deadline also.
  3. There will likely be some more bullpen games in 2021.
  4. I think he's maybe a little better than journeyman status, with an fWAR of 15.0 in roughly 6 seasons, and a projected 2021 fWAR of close to 3.
  5. FWIW, in 2020 Porcello had an fWAR of 1.7 in 59 innings compared to 0.4 in 62 innings for Perez. FanGraphs always loves Porcello.
  6. There has been no mention of the idea of moving Eovaldi to closer except on Talksox. If Bloom says something about it, I'll take it seriously.
  7. Cora's 'history' with starters has nothing to do with how many innings Sale pitches. He'll be careful, obviously, just as every other manager would be. Nick is just using this to take another shot at Cora about Restgate.
  8. And we want you to stop talking in gibberish, or just stop talking altogether. Can't always get what you want.
  9. I don't feel like we're in hell, just purgatory...
  10. I don't think that would be enough to get OCab gone-unless he was in the room at the time. These rumors are certainly more fun than "Theo's love affair with compensation picks"...
  11. I thought of that too. I think the grand total was 100 million-ish. The others were 200 million-ish or more.
  12. Hahaha. If that happened I'm not sure OCab would still be alive. I heard something about Foulke's wife. In any case, I'm pretty sure there is nothing confirmed.
  13. That's a bit of an oversimplification, particularly because a lot of the spending occurred after the 2018 WS. Personally I think if you want to really attack or defend the spending you pretty much have to do it on a contract-by-contract basis.
  14. I think Henry did sign off on all this team's crazy spending sprees, and there have been a few of them. Pre-2007, pre-2011, pre-2015, pre-2019. That's actually every four years.
  15. You were also pretty sure Cora wasn't coming back, so your crystal ball might be a little out of whack.
  16. There is a financial incentive even if there are no fans at the games. They want people to watch the games on NESN, which had big drops in viewership in both 2019 and 2020.
  17. Yes, those comp picks were irresistible to Theo. That same year he got Ellsbury and Lowrie for Cabrera, Buchholz for Pedro, Hansen and Bowden for Lowe. St. Louis got Colby Rasmus for Renteria.
  18. OCab was great in the 2004 postseason. Rock solid on D and contributed on O as well.
  19. The fannies in the seats at home watching NESN matter too.
  20. He played for the Angels from 2005 through 2007. It was after that he really had to keep his suitcase packed.
  21. It was big money. And you would have to say Theo felt Renteria was not a good fit for some reason, to make that move.
  22. The Renteria case was strange, though, and so was the whole parade of shortstops in that period. We went from Nomar to OCab to Renteria to Gonzalez to Lugo.
  23. I'm not drawing any conclusions on the mentally incapable part. But it's rather unusual to sign a guy to a big 4 year contract and then trade him after one season.
  24. Yeah, I think the ZIPS guys must have had their holiday party early.
