    He's got 3 arb years left. Projected at 4.2 mill this year, I think. That will climb in 2022 and 2023. The math on this one really eludes me.

    Yes, I read that Kluber didn't take the highest offer. And I'm sure there are cases where a player will take a bit less money to play where they want. But Kluber wouldn't be a Yankee unless Hal Steinbrenner gave Cashman enough budget room to cover the $11 million. And the fact that DJL and Kluber are now with the Yankees might mean other players will be more interested to join them, but it won't matter in the least if Cash has used up all his budget room. It all starts with the money, that's my point.

    Ahead of getting paid, though? We've all heard the story of Pedro being instrumental in signing Ortiz. But that was a little different, Ortiz was available for peanuts. Give me some real world stories of players signing for significantly less to go to a winner, and I'll get misty-eyed too.

    They're betwixt and between, though, aren't they? NESN ratings nosedived the last 2 seasons. If the Red Sox want to be the Rays, their revenues are going to show it too.

    We certainly didn't need another DD right now. However... -We traded Mookie Betts and made much of the advantages of the tax re-set. -As of Jan. 17, our upgrades to a .400 team are Matt Andriese and Hunter Renfroe.

    Sorry, Kimmi, the Perez signing has had kind of a depressing effect on me. I still have hopes, but I'm scratching my head on what the plan is.

    There are always exceptions, and the 2013 Red Sox were virtually a unicorn.

    What we don't know is how much budget room he's been given by Henry. We were led to believe they'd be doing some spending. Still a lot of time and players out there, though. I'll wait until I see the team.

    So what do those regular fans and new fans really want to see in a baseball game. Do they want 2 hour games? 7 inning games with the runner on second rule for extras? Maybe they do. I have no idea. Somebody better figure it out.

    I think pace has been an issue for a long time. Didn't the marathon Sox-Yankees games start early this millennium? Hitters being super-patient, taking a lot of pitches, driving up pitch counts to get the starter out and into the bullpen. And we liked all that stuff when it benefited our offense.
