You think Bloom should have traded 4 prospects for a guy who's gone after 2022? Not really a future-oriented move. Ben may have rated the Yankee prospects he got higher than their published rankings.

Agreed. It needs to be fine-tuned. This business of teams scrambling to get under in Year 3 gets old in a hurry.

Our payroll is 4 times as high as Cleveland's, so no.

They really need a new tax system that doesn't have such a severe escalation in the penalties in Year 3. Reduce the penalties or make it a 5 year system or something.

I'm certainly in favor of it. Seems a little doubtful now though with only $8 mill or so under the threshold.

FWIW Odorizzi is projected at 3 * $15 mill or thereabouts.

It's standard procedure to move guys at the deadline when: a) the team is out of playoff contention the player's contract is expiring You'll never be criticized for moving guys under those conditions.
