  1. Fair question. Let me answer this way: I don't see how the Red Sox did themselves any favors by not trading him. As I said, only Bloom knows the reasons.
  2. I don't really disagree. Red Sox fans were in heaven when Koji was the closer in 2013. I do get the argument that maybe your best reliever could be used earlier than the ninth if the situations warrants it. The Guardians had a great setup that year Cody Allen was closer and Andrew Miller was 'relief ace'. But the truth is you're not always going to have two guys like that who are both pitching lights out at the same time.
  3. They do sometimes. Haven't you heard about all the needless overpays and bidding against themselves GM's do?
  4. Hahaha. I don't care that much either way, but it turned out to be not of much significance, especially with the pro-rating. For reasons only he knows, Bloom gave JBJ some very favorable treatment last year, including not trading him at the deadline.
  5. "Different strokes for different folks", I think. Poster Donnie Sadler is not so much down on Remy about his announcing, but about his character.
  6. The service time rules need to be fixed. Anything that's this easy to manipulate will be manipulated. They need to change it so there's nothing to manipulate.
  7. Multiple leg injuries. Sounds like his life isn't in danger, but his golf career could be. It's a ominous mystery at this point how the crash happened. Hope for the best, that's all we can do.
  8. Yankee fans still bemoan the Jay Buhner trade, OTOH.
  9. I'm guessing they do well compared to the general population, though.
  10. He meant Seattle is still mad.
  11. I'm totally OK with it. AAV of $1.5 million. Why would anyone not be OK with it?
  12. And I guess you and I will always disagree on this one. I think Kimbrel's contract was very favorable for the Sox. Yes, the annual salary was close to the top at the time, but it was only a 2 year guarantee with a team option for a third. Or to put it another way, Kimbrel was only guaranteed 24 million, and next offseason Chapman got 86 million guaranteed - about 3.5 times as much.
  13. Agreed. And nice job with the mélange of metaphors.
  14. Agreed. For some reason they're hanging Callaway out to dry instead of firing him. I'm guessing the firing comes eventually.
  15. Yeah, but to me it's also one offense. Unless there's a pattern of behavior behind it.
  16. Perhaps or maybe or we'll see or not.
  17. So COVID issues count the same as every other health issue?
  18. I'm with Bill Maher on the cancellation thing. Instead of just cancelling people left and right as a response, why not use it as an educational experience and make something positive out of it.
  19. "I'm tired of paying his interpreter" was not a real smart way to address the language issue LOL
  20. I guess what you're saying is 'don't outbid ourselves'. To me Bradley is a pretty solid value at 2/12.
  21. To me the only overkill with Kimbrel was giving up Logan Allen, which apparently wasn't necessary. Other than that I don't see either move as overkill. We needed these guys. But I know we'll always have a difference of opinion on this, which is fine.
  22. And you ignore all the actual projections out there and just go with your gut feelings.
  23. Yep, just like most things in life.
  24. It's hard to believe what birdbrains some of these guys are. And to say things like these in a time of such heightened sensitivity and so many cancel culture disasters.
  25. But where was the overkill, exactly - the Sale trade? I would argue that we needed him pretty badly and it wasn't overkill. In his first season we won 93 games. Might have only won 88 or so without him. That doesn't look like overkill.
