  1. But where exactly do you fit him in if Devers is healthy? Who does he replace? These pesky roster rules are a bit of an impediment.
  2. Don't forget '20 was only 40% pay. But OK, I'll just stick with highest pay for one year.
  3. Abreu can probably improve. But I agree that Ref will get his starts against lefties. This kind of juggling is child's play for Cora.
  4. Yoshida could beat both records. Castillo's years of total exile were 2016-2019.
  5. His only real opening is if Devers has to go on the IL, which is not really what you want.
  6. Devers did nothing to dispel concerns about where he is. He's still #1 on my list of concerns.
  7. Quite possible, but I think Cora will find Ref enough ABs against lefties to keep him sharp.
  8. Rusney Castillo's franchise record for highest paid AAA player is about to be eclipsed.
  9. Did he really say "oh shoot"? This guy is doing everything right so far.
  10. Mind you if the Dodgers get there again and their rotation is mostly healthy, they will be "prohibitive" favorites. Big if there of course.
  11. All their eggs are in one basket!
  12. I think I'm in the little group who believe it was letting Sean McDonough go that was the bigger crime than Orsillo. I've got nothing against Orsillo, but he also drove me nuts sometimes.
  13. I assume they left a sliver of room for "negotiation".
  14. Nothing can take the sting out of letting Betts go. At least we seem to know the truth about it now, and it was actually pretty simple and as many surmised. $300 mill was as high as they were going, full stop.
  15. My hunch is that this game will be decided by a bullpen battle. But hunches can be made to look very silly by baseball.
  16. 2011 was brutal, but winning 2 rings before it and 2 after it really takes the sting out for me.
  17. Welcome aboard, Mr. Werner! 😉
  18. Sam Kennedy is actually the last man on Earth I expect to get good insight on the Sox from. 😄
  19. FanGraphs projects the AL East as a 5 way dogfight of 82-86 win teams! 😁
  20. Bard hit the wall as well.
  21. Sure. But it was the departure of Epstein and Francona that lent some credence to the idea that there were internal issues beyond the stats.
  22. Like the first 3 games of 2021.
  23. I'm starting to get a sense that Sox fans are feeling cocky again all of a sudden. 😉
