  1. Since you're so determined to keep hauling that skeleton out of the closet... I don't know exactly what happened at the end of 2011, but it was a horrific collapse and it was followed by the departures of possibly the best GM and best manager the team has ever had. So I don't find it surprising that there were some ugly rumors. (And yes, I know it's easy to just look at the numbers and say the pitching fell apart in September.)
  2. I too was puzzled by this statement. Hitch?
  3. Do we think Devers will play any 3B at all this year?
  4. You know how silly we get with labels. Some might think he's too old or he walks too many guys now. But he's obviously one of the all-time best at what he does.
  5. What if Cashman's "real job" is to keep fielding competitive teams every year and to keep making money for Hal? Yanks are still crushing the field in revenue and market value. That would explain why he's still around. If Hal really thought the main goal was winning rings, Cashman would be long gone after only winning one since 2000.
  6. I'm expecting a Splintered Splendor appearance at some point.
  7. If Bloom was successful with his plan, the Sox had a funny way of showing it.
  8. There is a lot to be excited about. I'm mostly worried about injuries. Injuries have become such a gigantic factor in the game. And not just to pitchers.
  9. Anything from Giolito seems like it would be a bonus at this point.
  10. One could also argue the Red Sox were a total and inexcusable flop all 3 seasons. It's pretty hard to dress up an average of 79 wins. All depends on your perspective, and your biases.
  11. How the heck is it apples to oranges? Because the Sox were rebuilding/punting?
  12. With Mayer and Anthony waiting in the wings, there's not a lot of room for more position player prospects on the big team in the foreseeable future.
  13. Possibly. But Cashman and Boone won 38 games more than Bloom/Breslow and Cora in 2022-2024, an average of about 13 a year.
  14. Mayer looks pretty darn close to ready. Anthony might be ready too. It's just a matter of how making room for them comes about.
  15. I choose to not take them lightly. They always seem to find a way to win games. Boone takes a lot of heat for odd in-game decisions but he seems to be a good clubhouse manager.
  16. It's early but all of the big 3 have shown their potential to be the real deal this spring.
  17. No idea. But I just read he's feeling better and is actually expected to play tonight.
  18. Bregman hit that ball right on the button.
  19. Mookie Betts is really sick. He's lost 25 pounds, still can't hold down solid food, and the docs have no idea what the issue is.
  20. The reason that political threads/comments were declared off limits here was because former moderator Yazsir declared them so, under penalty of banning, after the last political thread got ugly. I'm not sure how Brock feels about it. I guess we'll soon find out.
  21. The 2007 team had 3 very good outfielders in Crisp, Ellsbury and Drew, but they only all played together in late inning alignments.
