  1. But again, he's making minimum wage, so he sure helps on the budget. Some of those first basemen hitting better than him are also making serious coin.
  2. I would agree the left-right thing is a little overblown. Their offense stinks because: -One-dimensional approach. -Not hitting with RISP. -Guys like Torres and Frazier have been mammoth disappointments (which many Yankee fans blame on management for screwing around with them). -Zero help from outside the org or the farm. Cash brings in guys like Bruce and Odor and they're awful.
  3. So he might be worth $7 mill after all?
  4. An unenforced rule is the same as no rule.
  5. Well, Cora doesn't move Bogaerts or Devers. We've had plenty of different guys play first and second.
  6. Dalbec's OPS by month: April .619 May .672 June .759
  7. And that's indicative of bad management.
  8. The other thing about a guy like Dalbec is the economics. He's a minimum wage player from now until 2023.
  9. Dalbec had decent defensive numbers at third base. He's a bit of a project, but there are still enough positive signs to make it worth investing in him, IMHO.
  10. As in, "Matt Andriese as tonight's designated sacrificial lamb" disaster.
  11. Yeah, it still has some sort of symbolic value for them, I guess. A number that goes "on the back of the baseball card".
  12. Funny how we still pay so much attention to who gets the W.
  13. Right. And in the same way, Cora showed gutsy patience with E-Rod in the Tampa game when he gave up the 3-run homer to Franco. E-Rod got 6 outs after that with no more damage. And he pitched well in his next start. I shouldn't be getting all gushy here, but Cora really knows how to handles his players and get the most from them, IMHO.
  14. If they were counting on Sevy that was just another mistake. It all comes down to Cashman. He has carte blanche on all personnel moves. He put this team together with shaky roster construction and he hired Boone to be his yes-man manager. He signed Kluber and Taillon and he traded for Odor. He left Whitlock unprotected. He has absolutely lost his touch.
  15. Absolutely. Picture us swapping managers with the Yankees. Scary thought, isn't it?
  16. "Fire the ever living f*** out of him." Nicely put.
  17. If we are so fortunate as to make the playoffs, I would want Dalbec on the team. When he's hot he can do some damage.
  18. Alright Larry. That was pretty good.
  19. I don't think it was something Cora necessarily wanted to do. But he wanted to nail down this game. Whitlock is absolutely torturing Yankee fans. One guy says we should thank Cashman for rebuilding our bullpen (Whitlock and Ottavino).
  20. Framing = fooling ump and turning ball into strike. Robot umps now!
  21. Meaning, you would put him at leadoff anyway, correct?
  22. I like Dalbec, but he's on a bit of a short leash now. They've handled his struggles as best they can. He has to put up better numbers starting pretty soon.
