  1. One never knows in this game.
  2. One particular move that Yankee fans have been crushing Boone over for days was when he pinch ran for Voit (on 3rd base with no outs, tie game), in the 7th inning of the game they lost 6-5 to KC. They say it was another instance of Boone's automaton-like approach and lack of feel for the game. What happened was they had to move DJ from second to first and insert Wade at second, and Wade muffed at least one play, and of course Voit's spot came up again.
  3. But they are a stunning 23rd in MLB in runs scored. 13th out of 15 in the AL!
  4. Dalbec made some nice plays at first last night, at least. He's still struggling, no question.
  5. A little early to say, but maybe this sticky crackdown is going to work out after all. We're still seeing some dominant pitching performances. Eovaldi pitched his best game of the year. Things could get interesting when the temperatures drop again, though.
  6. Nice game for Eovaldi, huh? He was still bringing it in the 7th and 8th.
  7. He looked good behind the plate though. He looks like a major league catcher. In Bloom I Trust.
  8. Yeah, I know. But that was kind of a must read for a tortured Sox fan. Dan cashed in on the 'c****' thing, but man, there really was some frightening history. The thing I realized for the first time was the parallels between the 1946-1949 seasons, and the 1975-1978 seasons.
  9. That's not quite true. The Yankees had come from behind wins in each of the last 3 series before this. They made last night pretty interesting too. What I see is Cashman's shaky construction - so heavily loaded with RH hitters, a gift to a guy like Eovaldi - and Boone's namby pamby leadership style.
  10. Looks like Bloom did just fine getting Wong in the Mookie trade too.
  11. Yes, I'm one of the people who actually read The C**** of the Bambino back in the Nineties. I was convinced we would never win anything after reading it LOL
  12. Yes, along with the infinity of other hypothetical turn back time things we'll never know. Santana hasn't even played the last 3 games BTW.
  13. And that's one of the knocks a lot of Yankee fans have on Cashman.
  14. This just in from Cherry-Picked Stat Samples R Us In his last 26 games Hunter Renfroe is hitting 333/413/578 for an OPS of 991. (OK, his BAbip is a little high at 382)

  16. What's sort of interesting is that Sox fans don't say much about trading Rizzo. They seem to accept that one, even though AGon didn't really succeed here.
  17. Technically, that was a sale, which made it even worse.
  18. Leave it to Sox fans to be still getting all worked up over a trade for a reliever that happened in 2016. Then again, they never stop lamenting about a trade for a reliever in 1990.
  19. Agree on all those points. Renfroe has also proved to be an excellent signing. He has become a key player.
  20. It was a good contract at the time. Only two years guaranteed, with a third at our option. Even if you look backward to compare to Papelbon's deal, it was a guaranteed amount of less than half of that.
  21. Kike 0.9 bWAR Holt -0.1 bWAR That's a win in difference, in less than half a season. I would argue that money for Holt would have been even more wasted. Kike's defensive numbers are what boost his WAR.
  22. Well, this particular back and forth started with Nick's post above.
  23. Then you agree with my simple point, which is that it wasn't a "double whammy". We overpaid in prospect capital, but it was a good contract.
  24. It's sheer delight how annoying it is for Yankees fans to have to watch Whitlock pitching for us instead of them.
  25. Lucchino got blamed for $95 million contracts. Cora is only on the hook for $14 million. So it's progress.
