  1. It's all anecdotal, so we can believe whatever we want.
  2. The best meetings are the ones we don't find out about. Earl Weaver said team meetings are a bad idea because if you have a meeting and then lose again you're really screwed...
  3. "Profit" was an unintentionally ambiguous word there. I was just thinking of W's and L's.
  4. I'll do it later, if you're OK with it.
  5. They have a bunch of things going right. Judge and Stanton are both healthy at once and producing. Montgomery and Taillon have been solid for quite a while. And so on.
  6. Which raises a question for stat-diggers: which teams have profited the most from these "traditional" match-ups?
  7. Those numbers for JD suggest he won't be thinking about opting out unless he closes with a major hot streak.
  8. It's a pigpile for the second Wild Card spot.
  9. If ever a team had momentum, it's the Yankees right now. If I was a serious better I would absolutely be putting money on them every game now. I was even thinking of starting a thread with a poll guessing the Yankees record the rest of the way, but I wouldn't feel quite right about it. But let's keep an eye on it, for the sake of the momentum argument. I think they could play 650 ball the rest of the way.
  10. Nope, can't blame him for having to pinch.
  11. FanGraphs WAR has JD at 2.5 and Hunter 1.5 for the identical difference of 1.0. OPS 882 to 800 tells the tale. Renfroe has been great, but JD's stick makes him more valuable.
  12. Like you said, Moreland cost too many dimes. And Bloom probably got a tidy bonus for staying under the tax line.
  13. The Amazin' M's. They're not out of it by a long shot.
  14. He might get on a little hot streak too, you never know in this game.
  15. You keep saying they're a dime a dozen, but the Red Sox and Yankees both had a lot of busts at the position this year.
  16. It really is too bad we don't have any female posters on game threads.
  17. Shaw has been a plus fielder at first base. Probably just a bad day (redeemed).
  18. They sure hate paying "luxury tax". Or maybe that's more of a convenient explanation sometimes.
  19. It's been frustrating, but a lot of it comes down to not having the resources to obtain a big upgrade. And our top prospect is a first baseman.
  20. He's no Blake Treinen, that's for sure.
  21. JD is a little unappreciated. A .926 OPS with the Red Sox.
  22. Right. They're both good 2 hitters. I think Raffi got moved because he was hitless the last 4 games.
  23. So you're suggesting they're in the minors not because they're not talented enough, but because they're chokers. That seems like a questionable proposition too.
