  1. I understand that, but it calls into question whether it was a good move by Bloom.
  2. Disagree. When the closing bell rang on July 30 they were 63-41, 1.5 up on the Rays and 8.5 up on the Yanks. In their previous 2 series they had won 3 of 4 against the Yankees and split 4 with the Jays.
  3. Maybe they were babying Schwarb because of health concerns. Which again makes his acquisition look questionable.
  4. And post-deadline results continue to be horrific.
  5. And when they went to Cora about it, he said "No worries, we'll get creative."!
  6. It now seems that when they traded for Schwarb, they really had no f'king idea where he was going to play.
  7. But it's obvious they don't really want to put Schwarb at first, likely because of injury concerns. Which does make Bloom's deadline work look a little suspect.
  8. And earlier in the year we were mocking the Yanks for their all or nothing approach. Maybe the guys were too jacked up after teeing off on the O's staff.
  9. We can talk about defensive configurations all day, but when your offense scores 5 runs in 3 games against the likes of Monty, Gil and Heaney, you suck.
  10. Can't argue, but it doesn't explain the brutal performance of the offense in this series.
  11. You're the faithful sentinel tonight, SPLINTER. Rats are leaving the ship.
  12. Let's jump off that bridge when we come to it.
  13. That didn't take long.
  14. Without looking, was it against Seattle?
  15. You might be too young to remember the great Norm Crosby.
  16. Anecdotal evidence is verboten.
  17. And I, as a growingly pessimistic Sox fan, smell the dreaded reverse lock...
  18. Schilling turned out to be a nutjob off the field, but on the field he was a hellacious competitor. The bloody sock game seems to have become a joke, but in real time, it was pretty damn amazing. The surgery that was done on him, I'm not sure many other players would have even said yes to it. And in the 2007 postseason he was obviously not 100% but still came through. Those were the last games he'd ever pitch.
  19. In 2019 during Restgate, many of us were clamoring for them to bring Sandy back to save the pitching. They brought him back, but the pitching continued to suck.
  20. I don't think it's necessarily as dramatic as enormous butterflies. What do we hear when teams go into collective batting slumps? "They're pressing. They're trying too hard." That type of thing. What it all comes down to is not being quite right in the head. Not having the same confidence and comfort level they have when things are going well.
  21. As was Schilling. Which would make his performance in the postseason even more impressive.
  22. 2020 was such a fustercluck that no one was paying much attention to anything.
  23. True, but another start to finish s***** season like 2020 would not have been very palatable at all.
