  1. No, you're arguing to get another starting catcher for 2022 based on CERA.
  2. Eovaldi is doing great with Plawecki so you leave it that way.
  3. That holds true for 2021?
  4. So why do you suppose Cora has trusted Vazquez to catch about 70% of the time this year?
  5. Absolutely. Cora has been a maestro with the pen this year. With the whole team in fact. He knows how to use everybody.
  6. And framing is an important skill. Yeah, I think the team looks more at numbers like that than they do at CERA...
  7. Come on. 2019 sucked for Eovaldi. 2020 was fine. Lumping them together is useless.
  8. I clearly remember in 2019 that a bunch of us thought the return of Leon would save us from Restgate. It didn't happen, the pitching got no better at all. And it was goodbye Sandy.
  9. I don't know that he isn't worth it. It's not easy to evaluate a catcher's defensive value. It seems pretty clear to me that CERA has no impact at all on how the team evaluates him.
  10. 2019 overall CERA's: Vaz 4.53 Leon 4.88 Sandy lost his CERA mojo that year, and that's why they shipped him!
  11. Some of those numbers are really old. So you're not allowing for improvement by Vaz.
  12. C'mon man, you've got better reading comprehension than that. "IMHO" and "I think" denote opinion, not fact.
  13. No, but that's not really the point. It was a decent performance in an f'd-up season. I'd call it more of a wash than anything.
  14. Ghost is just a nutjob. STORK is a troll.
  15. IMHO Sale and Eovaldi were never the issue with keeping Betts. Their deals weren't signed until they gave up on Betts. The more I think of it, the more I think Henry and Werner were really pissed about Mookie's stance (the 420 million counter offer plus earlier extension rejections) and closed the books on him.
  16. No hyperbole from Larry!
  17. I have to confess I do, sometimes. Not regularly.
  18. It was a small sample but a decent sample. 2020 of course was a weird year all around. His pro-rated salary was a little over 6 million. Bottom line, he's had one bad season, 2019, on this contract.
  19. There's a good chance that 2021 is his career year. I'd project him for a 3-3.5 WIN season in 2022.
  20. You're misreading what I said. I meant the 2021 data is all over the place.
  21. It's all about his health. He started being a better pitcher in 2018. The jump in his K/BB ratio doesn't lie.
  22. What was your problem with his 2020 part season?
  23. The game threaders were an ornery bunch until the Sox put this one away LOL
  24. Xander's OPS is a mere 160 points higher. Who needs that?
