  1. And many of those decisions are reviewed by somebody, and are often changed.
  2. I also see no reason why the front edge of home plate, rather than the whole pentagon, shouldn't be used to define the zone. I don't think human umps use the whole plate. The back of the damn thing narrows down to a point, so what possible sense does that make?
  3. I get your point, I really do. With the base thing, this seems to be something that has cropped up only since the current high-tech cameras came along. Until then no one even realized that it happened. So it's a new issue, and one that needs to be looked at. One of my arguments would be that the equipment is actually the problem.
  4. I think he would definitely reject the QO and go for a multi-year deal. He's very much in the same ballpark as Stroman, and Stroman has been projected to get 4/92.
  5. Instant replay doesn't do the play over, it just reviews the accuracy of the call. And robo umps obviously make the call in real time.
  6. Sure we do. You can post something here, look at it and decide you don't like it, and delete it. When you leave someone a message on voice mail you can record one, listen to it and decide if you like it or want to re-record it. Just a couple of quick examples that come to mind.
  7. You are the Injury Iceman.
  8. Buster Posey retires. Tough news for Giants fans.
  9. Nelson Cruz has never made more than that. Ortiz topped out at 16 mill.
  10. Eovaldi money is a reasonable offer, yes.
  11. CC was 2011, Hanley and Panda were 2015. He hired Bloom, he stayed below the tax threshold the last 2 years.
  12. Which can be befuddling to the average fan like me. Ryan only had 2 pitches and pitched a lot of complete games, not to mention no-hitters. I guess because his 2 pitches were that good.
  13. Yes, the MOST any DH should make is about $15 million.
  14. Sorry, but life does work that way. The NFL is still a pretty healthy operation financially, as far as I can tell.
  15. I think it depends on the pitcher. If you look at Robbie Ray's numbers, he fairly consistently mowed down hitters the first 2 times and got lit up the third time. So you could say the Jays manager actually messed up whenever he didn't hook him after 2 times through.
  16. And he doesn't want to repeat those kind of mistakes, which is understandable. I'm not sure exactly what you're disagreeing with.
  17. Bogey has great intangibles too, obviously.
  18. That's what I'm talkin' about.
  19. Food is definitely one of the things I'm traditionalist about.
  20. The landscape is changing rapidly though.
  21. This is exactly why I think WAR is the correct measuring stick.
  22. Personally I think Henry does care about winning quite a bit. And he's willing to spend, he just wants to be smart about it.
  23. Yeah, I guess I'm not done. But I do mean to be more respectful to those who don't want the robo calls. I understand their position. I'm traditionalist about some things too.
  24. You're right that there has to be a cost advantage of some sort. I don't think Bloom would offer a deal that had no apparent advantage for the team.
