  1. Nick, this sentence makes it sound like you have no clue how the MLB payroll system works. Not a good basis for discussion.
  2. As far as I know, the answer to both questions is yes. We'll find out on the second one when the much-awaited 2021 lux tax announcement comes!
  3. It seems like a lot of what you're calling decisions is just habitual behavior, instinctive responses. We don't make that many decisions in a day that require actual conscious thought and a choice between distinct options. I assume you're calling the choice of which shirt to wear one of those decisions. The fact is we do get do-overs on a lot of our decisions. I'm sure you've put one shirt on and then later decided to change into another shirt.
  4. Whether we like it or not, the game of baseball has become dominated by technology, from pitching management to defensive positioning to launch angle and exit velocity and plenty more. Technology just can't be held back, it seems.
  5. It was just a silly joke with notin. But I also like notin's point about the sport of track. It would be absurd not to officiate that sport with the best technology available.
  6. I do review my posts. And I just edited one up above. Seriously, Nick, you're grasping at straws here.
  7. Actually, get rid of those damn watches too, they're technological and accurate as hell. Do it by eye, man.
  8. And many of those decisions are reviewed by somebody, and are often changed.
  9. I also see no reason why the front edge of home plate, rather than the whole pentagon, shouldn't be used to define the zone. I don't think human umps use the whole plate. The back of the damn thing narrows down to a point, so what possible sense does that make?
  10. I get your point, I really do. With the base thing, this seems to be something that has cropped up only since the current high-tech cameras came along. Until then no one even realized that it happened. So it's a new issue, and one that needs to be looked at. One of my arguments would be that the equipment is actually the problem.
  11. I think he would definitely reject the QO and go for a multi-year deal. He's very much in the same ballpark as Stroman, and Stroman has been projected to get 4/92.
  12. Instant replay doesn't do the play over, it just reviews the accuracy of the call. And robo umps obviously make the call in real time.
  13. Sure we do. You can post something here, look at it and decide you don't like it, and delete it. When you leave someone a message on voice mail you can record one, listen to it and decide if you like it or want to re-record it. Just a couple of quick examples that come to mind.
  14. You are the Injury Iceman.
  15. Buster Posey retires. Tough news for Giants fans.
  16. Nelson Cruz has never made more than that. Ortiz topped out at 16 mill.
  17. Eovaldi money is a reasonable offer, yes.
  18. CC was 2011, Hanley and Panda were 2015. He hired Bloom, he stayed below the tax threshold the last 2 years.
  19. Which can be befuddling to the average fan like me. Ryan only had 2 pitches and pitched a lot of complete games, not to mention no-hitters. I guess because his 2 pitches were that good.
  20. Yes, the MOST any DH should make is about $15 million.
  21. Sorry, but life does work that way. The NFL is still a pretty healthy operation financially, as far as I can tell.
  22. I think it depends on the pitcher. If you look at Robbie Ray's numbers, he fairly consistently mowed down hitters the first 2 times and got lit up the third time. So you could say the Jays manager actually messed up whenever he didn't hook him after 2 times through.
  23. And he doesn't want to repeat those kind of mistakes, which is understandable. I'm not sure exactly what you're disagreeing with.
  24. Bogey has great intangibles too, obviously.
