  1. True, but I think the sub-text was that Haywood Sullivan was willing to let Fisk go so his son could play more? I might have that wrong, but I'm too lazy to look up.
  2. True. To narrow it down a bit, going into 2021 there was a lot of head-scratching and skepticism about acquisitions like Kike, Pivetta and Renfroe, but they outperformed expectations and helped the team get as far as they did.
  3. Sure. But on the flip side, the 2021 team was expected to be about a .500 team or a little better, and they came close to the World Series. So maybe we should accept that Bloom has a clue what he's doing.
  4. Duran is an X factor, and it makes sense for them not to count on him, but at the same time to give him a chance. Or, as others have suggested, they might trade him.
  5. For the second year in a row, Bloom is befuddling us with his outfield construction...
  6. Yes, Barnes probably read your comments and was deeply affected by them.
  7. https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/20141-Barnes-extended?p=1401960&viewfull=1#post1401960 "Some overvalue Barnes' small-sample 37-inning turnaround from his forgettable 2020 season." If "forgettable" isn't a negative opinion, I'm not sure what is.
  8. Stats are being provided here too. And readers are free to reach their own conclusions. So where's the issue? In the Barnes extension thread you made it a point to correct anyone who called it "highway robbery". You rendered your opinion. You do stoop to providing opinions sometimes.
  9. Well, maybe you should think about that the next time you tell us that we're over-valuing a Red Sox player or prospect, which you often do. In that case you're the one who's saying "they're not that good". And who knows if a relative of that player isn't reading? Sometimes your moral high ground gets a little too high.
  10. It's strictly for amusement, though. We're not hurting anyone. Not like the players are ever going to know.
  11. Next up: Worst Red Sox Scumbags of All Time.
  12. Franchy Cordero has also put himself in the conversation-small sample, but impressively bad.
  13. Allen Craig is a wonderful candidate, because we actually paid him substantial dough, and his history suggested a bounce-back that never came.
  14. Agreed. That is some serious egregiousness. (Love that word too.)
  15. Leaders in the clubhouse. (That's a golf term.)
  16. Excellent, we have more semantics stuff to debate!
  17. But any comps to the great Imelda Marcos are probably a little premature.
  18. That's a good modification.
  19. Reasonable proposals.
  20. George Steinbrenner once cruelly dubbed Dave Winfield Mr May.
  21. Sure they do. They're human beings. We all have feet of clay, really.
  22. Seriously. If you're gonna hate, be a little clever at least. It's very reminiscent of a former poster who used ones like Jason VariPUKE and Xander BUMgaerts and the like when they were going bad...
  23. So today is the first time you've called him POP PEE?
  24. So why do you only pick on Ortiz?
