One thing about "third time through the order" metrics is that they're extremely simple.
Here are the MLB splits for all starting pitchers in 2021:
1st PA .708
2nd PA .747
3rd PA .780
That's just more confirmation that Felger and Mazz are a couple of ignorant tools.
JBJ is a slightly above average major league player. He's way above average on defense and below average on offense.
His above average-ness explains why he's been around so long in spite of the lacklustre offense.
A guy whose profile is extremely similar is Kevin Pillar. He's been around a while too.
Career numbers:
JBJ
3286 PA's
.705 OPS
+87 OPS+
14.2 fWAR
Pillar
3833 PA's
.705 OPS
+88 OPS+
13.6 fWAR
Over the last two seasons Bloom has brought guys back to the organization no less than six separate times!

We read a lot on here about all the blunders the Red Sox organization has made.
Considering that the Red Sox have the most championships of any team this century, just think of all the blunders the other teams must be making!

The Curse of Oak Island is hilarious though. I think they're going to get 10 seasons out of it.
