  1. One thing I've noticed is that a guy can have a good score on UZR but a bad score on DRS.
  2. Nice optimism by Pete!
  3. Oh dear, I left out the 'on average' part. Mea culpa!
  4. Please read post 694... Obviously, 30 hits does not automatically translate to 17 runs. But on average, it does.
  5. You're fine with it, but you also reserve the right to use that 'mirror image' line on a frequent basis, right?
  6. They're clearly giving Arroyo a big time look in RF.
  7. I think so. Some of it is just having the guts to do what seems different, which Cora definitely does.
  8. I think it'll be an adventure. But knowing Cora, he's probably looking forward to it.
  9. Yikes. Next thing you know "umpire" will be changed to "referee" to be consistent with other sports.
  10. If he's a middle reliever, you're talking about eating at least 90% of his salary, so that's not gonna happen. But if he's healthy, he's not a middle reliever.
  11. I had a weird feeling when I heard about Sale's extension. I didn't hate it, but I was very uneasy about his health, that's for sure. Only Dombrowski can ever explain the thinking that went into it.
  12. If Eovaldi can get healthy, so can Sale.
  13. So your original point that the difference between 165 and 225 is only one hit a week is: a) an interesting mathematical tidbit that says nothing about the actual impact on runs, wins and losses
  14. The major league average for 2021 was 16.7 runs per 30 hits.
  15. But of course the difference was 48 hits, because there were more at bats. Are you honestly trying to argue that one hit a week does not make a big difference? Yes or no.
  16. The real point we've established is that one hit a week can make a big difference.
  17. But you're the one who made it all about hits...
  18. So explain the offense fWAR difference for Bradley between 2019 and 2021...
  19. Any particular reason?
  20. Just compare JBJ's fWAR as a 165 hitter (2021) to his fWAR as a 225 hitter (2019). It's a 26 run difference on offense (fewer PA's in 2021). The difference in his OBP was 80 points, so that would factor in too.
  21. Times do change. Back then guys were getting deals in the hundreds of thousands. Now they get deals in the hundreds of millions.
  22. notin seens fascinated by the fact that the difference between a 165 hitter and a 225 hitter is only one hit a week. But as a metric-savvy fellow he also knows that the difference is about 2 wins over the season.
