    1) Houck's first save was a 1-run lead, June 10 at Seattle. 2) Schreiber has moved up the trust ladder in a big hurry and will no doubt get some closing opportunities at some point. 3) Whitlock will be returning to the rotation, why would you think any differently?

    I was just happy he had a game like that after being written off. I also see it as a tribute to Bloom and Cora the way they stick with guys and give them every chance.

    As I suggested, there's a randomness factor that has to be taken into account when evaluating a GM. I for one don't fault Bloom in the least for the Richards signing last year. No such thing as a bad one-year deal. As for Perez, he's got a long track record of good stretches but overall mediocre to bad numbers.

    Yeah, with some of these guys you're just guessing. Who would have thought E-Rod's signing would already look terrible, and the Perez signing would look like genius?

    Nobody is blaming Bloom for any of this, AFAIK. The blame is squarely being placed on the players.

    Fitzgerald is an interesting case, because here's a guy basically saying "if this costs me a chance at playing in the bigs, so be it", and it really could impact his chances.
