  1. It's way too early to say what the team will look like in 23 or 24. But I know it's much easier to go all in on the "Bloom sucks and we're f***ed" narrative...
  2. There are no draft pick penalties if you only go over by $12 million or so as the Red Sox did this year. Competitive Balance Tax | Glossary | MLB.com WWW.MLB.COM The Official Site of Major League Baseball
  3. If JH fires Bloom now, he would look like the most impatient jackass owner in baseball in a long time. It's just not happening.
  4. Miracles are not best bets.
  5. You're way over-reaching with some of this stuff. Lux tax? We've got a pile of money coming off the books. The only big money contract Bloom has added is Story. Duran? He was a 7th round draft pick by DD. It's not all that surprising he hasn't worked out. Downs? Just another over-hyped prospect. Unhappy Bogey and Devers? Henry is the guy who has the final word on extension offers of this magnitude.
  6. Sale/Eovaldi/JDM - all leftover big contracts from DD that have produced little in 2022.
  7. So you're saying if he didn't have a contract with us we wouldn't be talking about him. Yeah, I guess that's true!
  8. Yes, I'm with you.
  9. Major cherry-picking here, but in 2019 Sale had an amazing 9 game stretch from May 3-June 15. 60.1 IP 2.09 ERA 98 K's 11 BB's
  10. Of course they are...
  11. Paxton would certainly be a bonus.
  12. This offseason is going to be incredibly interesting. Henry and the rest of the FO are definitely feeling a lot of heat, especially with the rise of the Orioles. They know some serious upgrades are necessary.
  13. Nate's disappointing 2022 performance and health has been a big problem. As to your question, you can probably figure it out with WAR.
  14. Bogey career by months Apr 837 May 880 June 808 July 777 Aug 746 Sept 828 He always tends to wear down in the dog days. But when Cora gives him a day off fans want to roast the manager...
  15. They look like they are in slumps. The slumps of Bogey and Martinez started well before the trade deadline.
  16. Martinez and Bogaerts are both playing for their next contracts. That usually provides motivation.
  17. Big win for the Yankees. They ground it out.
  18. I'm thinking Vegas was funning us.
  19. Agreed. But in this game sometimes the opposite of what should happen happens.
  20. The one story about Lucchino that kind of made me wish I was there was when he, Henry and Theo flew to meet with Teixeira and Boras, thinking they were about to close a deal. When they got there they found out the Yankees had already pretty much sewed Teixeira up. I think there were reports of Lucchino coming close to getting physical with Boras...
  21. Nice report, thanks.
  22. There was also this one: "$300 million? You guys must be high. In honor of which, here's my counter-offer: $420 million. Put that in your pipe and smoke it."
  23. Story's performance before his injury was disappointing, but not inept. And he could have improved on it if he didn't get his hand fractured by a pitch...
  24. That's true from a "right this minute" standpoint. The full commitments were: JDM 110 million - with a series of opt-outs Bogey 120 million - with a vesting option for another 20 million, and an opt-out after Year 3 Story 140 million
