  1. I don't think there's anyone saying bring back JD, Eovaldi, Wacha and Hill. I'd like to bring back Eovaldi or Wacha, and that's it for me.
  2. I think it was reported that average pay went down in 2020 and 2021.
  3. With all that said, if the Red Sox were counting on Mookie becoming a free agent, they sure as heck traded him to the wrong team.
  4. I wasn't aware of a Paxton/Sale experiment. Paxton was a dice roll, that's all.
  5. It was a classic case of the eye test being totally wrong, though.
  6. With the deferred money, the present value of Mookie's deal is more like $310 million. So the Dodgers got 2 additional years for $10 million. Something doesn't compute...
  7. Maybe don't expect, but don't dismiss either.
  8. No such thing as a bad one-year contract?
  9. The timing. Not saying I'm sure, but I can't see ruling it out. After waiting all that time to get to free agency, why give in with one season to go?
  10. How can you be sure? He took all that deferred money, too.
  11. I think it all started with Shank.
  12. The question is who would have been a better choice.
  13. Who would you offer a QO to, just Wacha?
  14. Yes, most people thought he wanted to test the free agent market.
  15. The tweet just says he was at a Mariners' game.
  16. A Qualifying Offer to Eovaldi makes some sense. There's a reasonable chance he accepts, coming off a down season. Wacha could probably get a multi-year deal, so there's a good chance he would turn down a QO. Gonna be interesting.
  17. Rumors came out that Dombrowski had kind of cut himself off from the rest of the organization, other than a couple of close allies, that there was no communication etc. Whether that was a cover story I don't know.
  18. As far as the Eovaldi contract goes, I still don't think it was a terrible signing. Some people say it was all about the World Series. But he did have an fWAR of 2.2 in 2018 in 111 innings. fWAR's of 3.3 and 3.2 in previous seasons. 5.7 in 2021. He's capable of pitching at a high level. Obviously he hasn't fulfilled his potential, mainly due to injuries.
  19. Yeah, I was gonna say, that's a sweet ratio.
  20. Well, I certainly wasn't happy to see Betts go.
  21. The problem with a 12 year contract, though, is the last half of it.
  22. So what made them become *******s?
  23. Seemed like he was gradually moved into the traditional 9th inning closer role right before he got hurt.
  24. Also debatable.
