  1. Verdugo had an excellent second half with the bat.
  2. A most peculiar finish to the season. Win 3 in a row against Baltimore, get annihilated 3 straight against the Jays, win the last 3 against the Rays.
  3. And I agree with all that.
  4. Why mention Benintendi when Bloom traded him, though? The fact remains that DD didn't trade anyone who has become a bona fide star yet. Espinal might be getting there.
  5. Don't forget your 2020 pro-rating!
  6. Not this forum, no. But there are plenty of other places for them to jabber, too.
  7. I think you'd be surprised how many of them know a little about the contracts. Much of the coverage of the team this year has been about contract situations. How many fans do you think are totally oblivious of the fact that Bogaerts may not be on the team next year? Or that JD and Eovaldi are likely gone?
  8. Yankee fans will not be happy if they don't win it all. They've been waiting since 2009, and a lot of them think less of Cashman than we do of Bloom, crazy as that may seem.
  9. Well, we're all just here to jibber jabber, and that's all we can do, so I agree with that much. But I do think a lot of fans are aware which of the players are signed for a while and which are impending free agents and so on. I don't think the "average fan" is quite the oblivious doofus they're sometimes made out to be.
  10. Congratulations to Judge. Glad he got it done.
  11. Dugo is hitting .283. Mookie is hitting .271. Not even sure what the discussion is about.
  12. I feel perfectly comfortable calling Ortiz and Schilling clutch performers. Those are the only two I concern myself with, because of their obvious roles in the Red Sox title runs and because their postseason numbers are that good.
  13. Kike has a .900 OPS in 194 postseason PA's.
  14. Think he may have found a Pharmaceutical Fountain of Youth?
  15. Radios? I think your phone is losing it, man.
  16. "Opening the checkbook" is a relative term. Open it like pay a bit of tax, or open it like Dodgers and Mets owners?
  17. Bard isn't really a great example of the importance of closers, since the Rockies are even worse than us.
  18. There's also the "stigma" of 5 last place finishes in 11 years... That has not happened for a long long time.
  19. You also have to consider the cost to Henry of falling attendance and TV ratings.
  20. That's true. But they made the decision with eyes wide open, so it must have fit into the plans. Teams like the Dodgers and the Mets are basically saying screw the tax and penalties. Maybe JH is looking in that direction?
  21. Correct. $20 million is a lot for a DH. Signing him, along with the other moves, would have put us another $20 mill over the tax threshold, minus what someone would have paid for JD.
  22. I'd rather spend the $55 mill on Devers/Xander. I certainly agree that does nothing to improve us. Improvements have to come from money freed up by Price, JDM, Eovaldi, JBJ and Vazquez.
