  1. Whit Merrifield is a great name for a ball player. Sounds like it comes right out of a baseball story for teenagers.
  2. Casas is the scariest .151 hitter in the game. Kid's got power!
  3. What might be interesting is to look at the most successful bullpens and how they were put together. Hopefully Chaim is doing so!
  4. We need it all.
  5. I was following last night's game on Gameday. When we made it 6-5, I was momentarily pleased, but then I thought about our bullpen and guessed the final score as 14-5.
  6. This is one time I don't think that's gonna happen.
  7. Put it this way, I'm guessing there are no criticisms in the article that haven't already been expressed here.
  8. Shaughnessy's latest column trashes every single Boston team, in the wake of the Celtics' scandal and the Pats' QB injury. I didn't even read it. Didn't have to.
  9. We could all write just as good an article, I think, considering that there's so much wrong LOL
  10. The only sign of future health for pitchers is retirement.
  11. And if you've got an extra $140 million lying around, maybe a contract for a pitcher that's longer than a year is worth considering.
  12. Yeah, Ben is going to have to kick some serious ass in Year Five of his plan with the Bucs.
  13. All true. We know the Sox farm has improved and we know there's a bunch of money freed up. Whether that translates into a good 2023 team is very much yet to be seen.
  14. Also, Story was not a bad contract, but maybe Gausman would have been a better idea.
  15. The one thing that worries me is Bloom's judge of pitching talent. That's supposed to be his forte, and I'm not quite seeing it yet. Our pitching in general has been abominable this year, even when you factor in the injuries. Signing Diekman over McHugh bothers me more than the Bradley trade. In spite of the salvage job he did by trading Diekman.
  16. So you're not a Yankees fan. Little by little you reveal yourself.
  17. You are correct. Not charged had to do this time.
  18. Boone strikes again? Bottom of 10th, man on second, two outs, Vlad up. Boone elects to pitch to him instead of issuing IBB, which seemed to be a no-brainer since Vlad is the Jays best hitter and it would have set up the force out at every base.
  19. Zack Kelly got the postgame Gatorade bath for being the only Red Sox pitcher not scored on.
  20. He's been doing it for many years.
  21. Looks like Seabold will end his Red Sox career with a double-digit ERA.
  22. Yeah, we say they have holes in their swings, but they crush minor league pitching. I think maybe major league pitching is the real problem...
  23. Yes, that was a thriller.
  24. 5. The Carbo HR in Game 6.
  25. For me the '78 playoff loss was the most heart-breaking of them all. That was my favorite Red Sox team ever.
