  1. Yep, those are the two.
  2. You know your stuff. Extra points for anyone who knows that Piniella made two key plays in that game, not just one.
  3. It's a tough question. They offered him 7 years/213.5 million, and made the offer public. That suggests they're not ready to go to the wall for him.
  4. Yes, he's having an incredible season. But he'll be 31 next year and he has an injury history.
  5. Soto is 6.5 years younger than Judge. That's where all the difference is.
  6. There are simply no words for how insane it would be to give a $400 million contract to a man who will turn 31 in April, 2023.
  7. Constructive criticism is intended to help the person get better. Saying Bloom should be fired is not constructive criticism.
  8. But mvp was replying to my post about Berrios's 2022 numbers.
  9. Of course. But in reality it's a chain of events. Theo Epstein is the guy who made the deadline trade for Roberts because he thought the team could use a speed merchant.
  10. So it's actually massively stupid on two levels: 1) his trade would never have happened; 2) Berrios is having a lousy season.
  11. Oh well, at least we didn't give up any homers to Judge. I was kind of expecting him to hit #61 and #62 against us, the way this season has been going.
  12. Berrios has a 5.27 ERA. And you're still in the AA Troll League.
  13. The real question with Bloom is what Henry was expecting and what he was prepared for. 2022 especially shaped up as a tough year with all the contracts expiring. Bloom has been trying to build up the farm while plugging in gaps in the big team with short term contracts. Things are looking up in many ways. But nobody expects Red Sox fans to be patient for long, so 2023 is huge for Bloom.
  14. That's true, but in the two situations I mentioned, they were rebuilding, and that's why they were given a lot of time.
  15. You dodged the point about Dombrowski's tenure with the Tigers.
  16. If it was all about the results of a single season, Dombrowski would have been terminated early in his tenure with the Tigers, and Theo would have been canned early in his tenure with the Cubs. Canning them would have been objective and results oriented, according to you.
  17. The Red Sox are paying luxury tax this year. You knew that right?
  18. I know what he means, and I agree. Of course the players are what we watch, but being a fan is a lot more fun when your team is winning titles. And like it or not, ownership and management have a lot to do with putting those title-winning teams together. Just got our power back BTW.
  19. I'll put up some numbers on these matters tomorrow.
  20. It's one of those things that some people don't buy into, but hitting with RISP is considered by metrics people to be a "clutch" skill that is not repeatable.
  21. In retrospect that was the game, when the Sox missed their chance to add to the lead.
  22. Add him to the list.
  23. Pure speculation if any of that led to injuries. Pitchers live a fragile life.
  24. You're right about the bullpen. Very big priority. If Bloom doesn't upgrade it significantly I'll be pissed too.
  25. Things change a lot from one year to the next and many unexpected things happen. You already know this.
