  1. $25.6 mill AAV. Just like that, you have $3.4 mill more to spend.
  2. He means "high-risk, high upside" is the correct way to state it.
  3. Jim Bowden of the Athletic's prediction for Xander: 7/196 Other SS's Correa 10/327 Turner 8/264 Swanson 6/154 Note: he predicted 4/65 for Diaz.
  4. Possibly, but Steve Cohen seems like he wants to be the biggest wallet in the room these days...
  5. And my theory is that Henry Got Huffy.
  6. You had a good recap on the 2023 payroll a little while ago. You should start a 2023 payroll thread.
  7. My guess would be yes.
  8. A trade of both Devers and Verdugo this offseason would definitely surprise me, actually...
  9. We have a pretty big crunch too. We might even be Extra Crunchy.
  10. Hosmer had an OPS+ of 113 with San Diego this year. Platoon him with Dalbec. Reasoning: a team with our payroll issues almost has to make use of a guy with some ability that we only have to pay minimum wage.
  11. OK, he hits just about as well vs. lefties.
  12. Are we sure about this?
  13. Devers at 3b, possibly unhappy because of no extension Verdugo in LF That's about it.
  14. It's hard to conceive of this team making the playoffs in 2023 without some big moves. As in JH really opening the wallet. But it would seem he hired Bloom to avoid having to do that. It's a conundrum.
  15. Solid point about Alvarez's splits.
  16. Sobering indeed, and pretty fair, frankly.
  17. Nobody knows anything.
  18. Personally I kind of lump together draft picks and IFA's. I know they're very different systems, but they are both part of the scouting and selecting of prospect talent.
  19. Yeah, I was just reading about him. Born in the Dominican, family moved to Providence, RI when he was 9. Too bad the Sox didn't draft him.
  20. Seems like Bill said it right.
  21. You're certainly correct about that. It was just kind of an ambiguous statement. Good to see you posting more BTW.
  22. Always being just under the first cap would be the ideal.
  23. That's understood, but you have to look after the future as well as the present, or the present will really start to suck.
  24. The resetting isn't really that big of a deal in itself. Like I said before, it just means they have to reset in 2024 and 2027 instead of 2025 and 2028. A plan to spend/spend/reset isn't a great plan anyway, arguably.
