  1. Analytics guys say your fifth best hitter should bat third. Where's Kimmi?
  2. Bogey got his largest number of PA's in the 3 spot this year. If Cora believed in the analytics ordering thing, that should not have happened, right?
  3. The one and only reason the #3 spot got downgraded in importance is that the stats show that spot comes up with two outs and nobody on more than any other spot. And that would be mainly in the first inning, obviously. And it's easy to see that most managers don't really pay much attention to that.
  4. Jeez, nobody likes a guy who gets hit in the hand with a pitch...
  5. Of course, losing patience doesn't really cut it as a reason. The disappointing thing is that Bloom's biggest strength is supposed to be pitching.
  6. FanGraphs says his 2.4 fWAR was "worth" $18.9 mill based on average free agent cost per win. 3.8 fWAR would be "worth" about $30 mill.
  7. Sorry, 2.4 in 94 games.
  8. That's not the issue. The issue is basically that the Rays saw something we didn't.
  9. I'm guessing that's humanly impossible.
  10. What makes it harder to evaluate is that his season was derailed pretty badly by injuries. He had a 3.4 fWAR in 94 games, equivalent to 3.8 in 150 games.
  11. Perez is more of a WTF anomaly, because his previous seasons with Texas did not indicate he was capable of his 2022 season either.
  12. And the Padres let Snell face 23 batters in Game 3, and it worked...
  13. Why is there no hierarchy? The only trustworthy guys left are Holmes and Peralta followed by Loaisiga and Trivino. Will Holmes and Peralta be available tonight is the question.
  14. All I can surmise is that Boone is afraid Holmes will get injured again if he rides him too hard.
  15. You two are like a pair of Rock'M Sock'M Robots. By now you both pretty much know what the other one is going to say, but you keep at it anyway.
  16. Speaking of injuries, at the deadline the Yankees traded for Bader, Benintendi, Montas, Trivino and Effross. Bader of course was on the IL when they traded for him. Benintendi, Montas, and Effross are all injured. Effross is having TJS and I don't think the other two will return even if the Yankees get past this series.
  17. And pitchers seem to be getting injured more and more often all the time.
  18. The Dodgers pen was also somewhat decimated. What do you think Roberts did wrong, exactly?
  19. Bradley posted a -0.3 fWAR at a payroll AAV of 12 million. He was NOT an asset.
  20. He got mixed up. He thought Schmidt started for the Yankees.
  21. The Yankees bullpen is decimated. No Chapman No Britton No Green No King No Effross
  22. Ah, but if the playoffs are a crapshoot, and the 2022 Dodgers can win 111 games and have an unbelievable +334 run differential, and win 1 postseason game, that kind of blows the "timing" premise to kingdom come.
  23. Right, there was just one stretch from 1985 to 1993 where all the series were best of 7.
  24. It was a mess-up, but there's no way it should be allowed to be a crippler. If it's a crippler, then we should never pay tax again, ever.
