  1. We can assume whatever we want. But it's obvious the Sox had to trade Mookie. That was getting done one way or the other. I think mvp is right that getting them to take Price simply lessened the return.
  2. Bloom took over an 84-78 team. Let's not fudge the facts.
  3. Sure, but even $220-240 mill is still too much.
  4. I don't like them either, but they're an incentive to get the player to sign.
  5. You're saying they shouldn't have traded Betts and should have kept him for 2020 even after the extension talks failed?
  6. You'd think so, but for whatever reason he seems to be the guy who gets left hanging around. That's what happened last year, anyway.
  7. I think Henry actually started putting the clamps on DD after 2018.
  8. You're not much of an optimist though.
  9. The reason I said that is because of the popular theory that Devers wanted to be wherever his buddy X is.
  10. It's a gamble, but this guy has big upside.
  11. But they're spending zillions on position players and little on pitchers.
  12. In theory this makes it more likely they keep Devers. 1) They have more money. 2) San Diego doesn't need a third baseman.
  13. Why didn't they spend some money on pitching instead? They could have had deGrom and Verlander for about the same money.
  14. His OPS the last few years looks pretty healthy to me.
  15. I think we'd all do that in a heartbeat.
  16. Ward and Song are two pitchers that have been talked about quite a bit here. Very surprising to lose both.
  17. So the Yankees original offer to Judge was 213.5 million. They signed him for 360 million. A delta of 146.5 million. Crazy times we live in, folks...
  18. Walker's deal was kind of a Dombrowski Special. Taillon's seems more in line with current reality.
  19. Bloom can absolutely handle that assignment.
  20. And he'll age like fine wine, right?
  21. The Sox have reported interest in bringing Vaz back.
  22. Absolutely. 150 is a good target for him.
  23. It's a little surprising, but $32 million is not crazy money by the standards being set this offseason. We're through the looking glass.
  24. Dave and the current Phillies owner are a match made in heaven.
